We’re thrilled to announce a major carbon transaction with Meta; one of the world's largest such deals to date. Meta will purchase 1.3 million nature-based carbon removal credits, with options on an additional 2.6 million credits through 2038, from our Latin American reforestation strategy. Blair Swedeen, Global Head of Net Zero and Sustainability at Meta, says about the deal: “BTG Pactual TIG and Conservation International, in their visionary collaboration, are setting a new bar for how sustainable forestry operations can deliver restoration of degraded land, while providing important economic opportunities for local communities. We are proud to support the bold impact strategy that TIG and CI have developed, which aligns with our own goals for our net zero program and for carbon markets broadly.” As part of the deal, Meta is making its forest monitoring technology available to help establish a rigorous baseline of existing forest cover for TIG’s Latin America reforestation strategy. This includes Meta’s work with World Resources Institute to map tree canopy height at a 1-meter resolution, allowing the detection of single trees at a global scale. All canopy height data and AI models are free and publicly available, including those used for this deal. More details on the transaction can be found in the press release below. Huge congratulations are due to all involved, including our colleagues at Meta and our collaborators at Conservation International. Getting deals of this magnitude across the line are an immense team effort, and we are grateful to everyone who has supported this effort along the way! Enhanced Sustainable Forest Management: Enhanced Road Maintenance and Stream Crossings We are excited to continue our series highlighting the innovative forest management practices developed in collaboration with The Nature Conservancy. This week, we’re focused on enhanced road maintenance and stream crossings. What We're Doing: • Upgrading Forest Road Infrastructure: We are upsizing culverts and increasing water diversion features to ensure our roads are more resilient. • Protecting Waterways: These upgrades help mitigate erosion and safeguard our precious aquatic ecosystems. By taking these measures, we are not only improving road durability but also contributing to watershed health and resilience. Discover the full details of our forest management practices and how we are making a positive impact on U.S. working forests here: https://lnkd.in/e8CmZHPX #workingforests #forestmanagement #sustainableforestry

🌿 How nature-based investments can pave the way for a greener, more sustainable future. Yesterday, we hosted an investor’s roundtable meeting at the Hempel Foundation headquarters in Copenhagen, focusing on the growing field of nature-based investments. This gathering highlighted how impactful investments that benefit nature, while offering strong financial returns, are becoming essential strategies to tackle global environmental challenges. The event brought together industry leaders, investors, and practitioners from around the world to explore real-world examples and lessons learned. The event had insightful contributions from BTG Pactual Timberland Investment Group, Conservation International, New Forests, and Nattergal Ltd (Archie Struthers and Ivan de Klee), with international case studies from Latin America, Africa, Asia, and the UK. At the Hempel Foundation, we believe in the power of these investments to drive meaningful change. David Emmett, Biodiversity Partnerships Senior Manager at Hempel Foundation said: "The urgency and scale of the biodiversity crisis requires more financing than philanthropy alone can provide. Impact investing is a fast-growing asset class that can help to bridge this financing gap - if we can only find ways to sustain and restore nature while making a financial profit, it would be a game-changer for addressing this crisis at the scale and pace needed." Thank you to all who attended, and we look forward to fostering future collaborations for a more sustainable world! #NatureBasedInvestments #Sustainability #ImpactInvesting #AcceleratingChangeTogether #ACT

Enhanced Sustainable Forest Management: Increased Green-Tree Retention Continuing our series on innovative forest management practices developed in collaboration with The Nature Conservancy, this week we’re focusing on Increased Green-Tree Retention. What It Is: • Healthy Overstory Trees: We leave a portion of healthy overstory trees onsite after harvest. • Creating Diverse Microclimates: This practice fosters diverse microclimates and habitat features. • Supporting Biodiversity: It sustains and enhances complex mixtures of plants and animals. By integrating this practice into our forest operations and harvest plans, we aim to sustain and enhance local biodiversity. As part of TIG’s collaboration with The Nature Conservancy, staff from TIG, TTG Forestry Services, LLC, Caddo Sustainable Timberlands, and The Nature Conservancy in Texas chapter spent a day last month exploring bottomland hardwood forests along the Neches River to assess the potential for conservation and carbon projects. These forests include cypress swamps, some upland pine plantations, and lots of wildlife, including three gators spotted by the team during the tour. #forests #sustainableforestry #sustainablefinance #wildlife
