A legacy in timber for over a century.

About us

What we do: The Molpus Woodlands Group, LLC (Molpus) acquires, manages, and sells timberland as an investment vehicle for pension funds, college endowments, foundations, insurance companies, and high-net-worth individual investors. The company focuses on ensuring long-term optimal cash returns on investments while practicing responsible forest stewardship. We currently manage approximately 1.7 million acres of timberland investments located in 17 U.S. states. Our experience covers all facets of timber management, manufacturing, and marketing. Molpus is one of the few Timber Investment Management Organizations (TIMO) that have all of their core businesses and forestry functions handled or supervised by in-house experts. Committed to sustainability: Molpus incorporates environmental, social, and governance (ESG) policies and practices into investment analysis and decision-making. ESG values inform everything we do in the forest and throughout our company. We also recognize the critical importance of land-based solutions and healthy forests in climate change mitigation and carbon sequestration. We understand that today’s investors, both institutions and individuals, are making the connection between a company’s commitment to ESG and its ability to create sustainable value and reduce risk. We believe our strong ESG performance has positive implications for the environment and the future of Molpus. Our history: Molpus was founded in 1996 as a TIMO and has a company legacy dating back to 1905. Molpus is one of the oldest timber-related companies in the United States.

We're proud to partner with the Mississippi Museum of Natural Science in showcasing this impressive cross-section of a cypress tree on display at the museum. Support from Molpus is helping to tell the story of this majestic tree’s long life, from the 10th to 19th centuries, through its growth rings. The cypress tree, well-adapted to the wet conditions of swamps and riverbanks, has played a vital role in our ecosystem for centuries. Through this exhibit, visitors can connect with the deep-rooted history of our natural world, gaining insight into the environmental conditions over hundreds of years. Together, we're fostering a greater appreciation for our forests.   The Mississippi Museum of Natural Science, a division of the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks, spans over 73,000 square feet and features more than 200 species of native wildlife, extensive exhibits, and a network of walking trails. It's a premier destination for anyone looking to connect with Mississippi's diverse natural heritage and explore the wonders of our state's ecosystems.   To learn more about the museum, please visit: https://lnkd.in/gDZRVwA7   #Forestry #Mississippi #CypressTree #NaturalScience #MuseumExhibit

On September 8, 1905, Richard H. Molpus and M.H. Henderson formed a partnership that would end of having an influence on people throughout the United States for generations to come. From this humble start, Molpus stands as one of the oldest timber-related companies in the U.S. We proudly celebrate 119 years of impacting the local economies and lives in the communities in which we operate. Today, as a company managing over 1.7 million acres of working forests in 15 states, we practice responsible forest stewardship and conservation through our sustainability policies and practices. We manage on behalf of pension funds, college endowments, foundations, insurance companies and others. We have almost all of our forests open to for either public access or private lease for recreational purposes. We support education through internships and an expansive scholarship program with ten public universities located in some of the country’s most forested states, with rich histories and strong forest communities. After 119 years, forests aren’t just our focus, they’re our legacy. #MolpusLegacyDay #Anniversary #Timberland #Forestry #Forests #LegacyOver100Years

Today marks National Wildlife Day. As we recognize the significance of preserving our natural world, we're reminded of the important role that sustainable forest management plays in safeguarding wildlife habitats. The two adorable bear cubs in this photo are more than just a cute sight—they are a testament to the success of sustainable forestry practices. By carefully managing our forests, we help ensure that these habitats remain thriving ecosystems where wildlife like these cubs can flourish. At Molpus, our commitment for sustainably managing forests includes fostering environments where all species, big and small, can thrive. Protecting biodiversity is an important part of what we do. #NationalWildlifeDay #Sustainability #WildlifeConservation #GrizzlyBear #BrownBear #Biodiversity

At Molpus, our commitment to sustainable forest management helps ensure that our forests thrive as well as providing a positive impact to local communities. The attached photo, taken in one of our managed forests in the state of Mississippi, shows a serene forest scene with tall loblolly pine trees casting long shadows on the forest floor. Loblolly pines are found throughout the southeast U.S. from our properties in East Texas, through states like Alabama, Florida, and Georgia and on to our properties in North Carolina and Virginia. Our third-party certified forests are carefully managed to maintain biodiversity, protect wildlife habitats, and support the economic vitality of local communities. Through sustainable practices, we help create jobs and stimulate economic growth in the regions where we operate. By striving to balance environmental stewardship with economic impact, we believe we contribute to the well-being of both nature and local communities. Congratulations to Bob Lyle, Molpus’s Special Advisor to the President, on being appointed to the Southern Division Trustee Cabinet for The Nature Conservancy (TNC). This appointment highlights Bob’s dedication to conservation and leadership within the community as well as his work at Molpus. Bob has been a long-term member of the Board of Trustees of the Mississippi Chapter of The Nature Conservancy, serving as its Vice Chairman. His commitment and experience should make him an invaluable addition to the Southern Division Trustee Cabinet. Happy Fourth of July from the Molpus Woodlands Group! Molpus’s forests play a crucial role in preserving habitats for some of America’s most iconic species. None more so than the bald eagle—the national emblem of the United States since 1782 and a spiritual symbol for native peoples for millennia. Known for its awe-inspiring presence and unmatched hunting prowess, the bald eagle embodies the resilience and beauty of our nation's wildlife. At Molpus, we uphold a steadfast commitment to sustainable forestry and responsible stewardship. Beyond timber production, our forests are meticulously managed to enhance wildlife habitats, promote biodiversity conservation on both a local and regional scale, and offer enriching outdoor recreational opportunities. As we celebrate Independence Day, Molpus remains dedicated to preserving these natural treasures for generations to come! #biodiversity #forestproud #baldeagle #esg #sustainableforestry
