- Μιλιμετρέ χαρτί ονομάζεται ο τύπος χαρτιού γραφής που τυπώνεται με λεπτές γραμμές που σχηματίζουν ένα κανονικό πλέγμα. Οι γραμμές χρησιμοποιούνται συχνά ως οδηγοί για τη χάραξη γραφικών συναρτήσεων ή πειραματικών δεδομένων και σχεδίασης καμπυλών. Βρίσκεται συνήθως σε περιβάλλοντα μαθηματικών, μηχανικής και εργαστηρίου. Πιστεύεται ότι η ιδέα του μιλιμετρέ χαρτιού έρχεται από τον Δρ. Buxton, ο οποίος το κυκλοφόρησε εμπορικά το 1794 και το κατοχύρωσε με δίπλωμα ευρεσιτεχνίας. Έναν αιώνα αργότερα, ο E. H. - Das sogenannte mathematische Papier (auch Netzpapier oder Funktionspapier) ist mit einem speziellen Aufdruck eines Koordinatennetzes versehen. Es dient in der Mathematik bzw. der Geometrie der Darstellung von Kurven und Punkten nach Koordinaten. Die bekannteste Form ist kariertes Papier, umgangssprachlich auch Karopapier genannt. Durch die Möglichkeit, grafische Darstellungen aus Tabellenkalkulationsprogrammen heraus zu erzeugen, nimmt die Bedeutung solcher Zeichenhilfsmittel ab (die Darstellung von Daten auf logarithmischen Skalen ist aber nach wie vor wichtig und nützlich). Die Nomographie beschäftigt sich mit der Herstellung solcher grafischer Auswerteverfahren von Funktionen. Sie werden auch Nomogramme genannt. Mathematische Papiere sind eine Untermenge der Nomogramme, zu denen beispielsweise auch der Rechenschieber zählt. Zu den mathematischen Papieren zählen:
