On the two-dimensional stability of inviscid incompressible swirling flows. (English) Zbl 1367.76026

Summary: Two general results are obtained fot the stability problem of swirling flows of inviscid incompressible, homogeneous fluid to two-dimensional normal mode disturbances. The first result establishes the boundedness of wave velocity of neutral modes, while the second result proves that the growth rate of an unstable mode approaches zero as the length of wave approaches zero.
