Comment on ‘Two-state vector formalism and quantum interference’. (English) Zbl 1382.81027

Summary: F. A. Hashmi et al. [ibid. 49, No. 34, Article ID 345302, 12 p. (2016; Zbl 1347.81021)] claimed that the approach to the past of a quantum particle introduced by the author [“Past of a quantum particle”, Phys. Rev. A (3) 87, No. 5, Article ID 052104, 6 p. (2013; doi:10.1103/PhysRevA.87.052104)] has difficulties in certain examples and that it can even be refuted. Here I reply to their criticism showing that the approach provides a good explanation for all the examples they considered. It is fully consistent with standard quantum mechanics and provides a useful tool for analyzing interference experiments.
