An obstacle problem for a cylindrical shell. (English) Zbl 0565.73055
The authors study the problem of a clamped cylindrical shell (circular, with variable thickness in nondeformed state). The bending of the shell is limited by a stiff obstacle. The uniqueness and existence results are proved as well as the applicability of the numerical method. (The problem is approximated by means of Argyris triangular elements.)
