He was born in 1981 in Belfort, France. He had his international breakthrough with the lead role in Jacques Audiard's prison thriller A Prophet. For this debut, a subtle portrayal of a Maghreb illiterate who during his detention works his way up to become a drug lord, Rahim won two Césars and a European Film Award.
