Curon

For the Italians, this is a superhumanly good piece of work with the mysterious atmosphere of the strange city of Curon and an idea that gets 100 points for originality – I've never seen anything like it before and at times it reminded me remotely of Jordan Peele's Us. The series is interesting enough to keep up the pace, there was even one episode that was better than average that reveals the direction of where the next episodes will go, but I still can't shake the feeling that far, far more could have been extracted from such a good idea, and that the creators could have played with it more, even stretched the running time more and made it a more complex result. They actually kind of blow it towards the end, which is a shame, because that's the one thing that could have left the biggest impression. The cliffhanger at the end is probably heading towards another season, so we'll see how they handle it. (04.07.2020)

The first season of Curon focuses on a very specific, strange little town that has its own dark characters and fates that are not always pretty. I think the aim of this television series was not to scare you but rather it is more about the depressing atmosphere that plays a major role here and the fact that you are kept in the dark most of the time, only gradually discovering things. However, unfortunately, that means that it can get quite boring at times. (29.06.2020)
