1.Sea turtles may migrate vast distances from their feeding areas to home rookeries where they nest. During these migrations sea turtles are subject to many threats, among which are interactions with pelagic longlines.2.This gear is used frequently in the summer period in the Gulf of Gabes targeting mainly the sandbar shark (Carcharhinus plumbeus). Hooks are baited with mackerel (Scomber scombrus) or pieces of stingray (Dasyatis pastinaca).3.Twenty-one fishing trips (48 sets with a total of 35 950 hooks deployed) were conducted using onboard observers in the south of the Gulf of Gabes during the months of July, August and September in 2007 and 2008. Stingray and mackerel bait were used in 19 and 29 sets, respectively.4.In total, 29 loggerhead sea turtles (Caretta caretta) were captured; the majority of them were juvenile and active. Turtles were caught at a statistically greater frequency on sets with hooks baited with mackerel than on sets with hooks baited with pieces of stingray.5.The type of bait also affected the catch of the target species by increasing the efficiency when pieces of stingrays were used.6.These results encourage further research into new baits to mitigate turtle catch by longline fisheries without affecting the catch of target species. Researchers keep striving so as to reach cheapest and optimum ration formulation that lead to better broilers performance and carcass characteristics. Feed represents about 70-80 % of the cost of broiler meat production. Protein is considered as the most expensive ingredient in the formulated feed for broilers. Recently the concept of the use of high quality protein in feed formulated for broilers has been adopted. High quality protein, mainly, means protein with an adequate amount and an appropriate balance of essential amino acids. The most important essential amino acids in poultry diets are methionine, lysine and threonine. They also are known as first, second and third or fourth limiting amino acid, respectively. The dynamics of the air cavity created by vertical water entry of a three-dimensional body is investigated theoretically, computationally and experimentally. The study is focused in the range of relatively low Froude numbers, Fr ≡ V(gD)−1/2 ≤ O(10) (where V is the dropping velocity of the body, D its characteristic dimension and g the gravitational acceleration), when the inertia and gravity effects are comparable. To understand the physical processes involved in the evolution of cavity, we conduct laboratory experiments of water entry of freely dropping spheres. A matched asymptotic theory for the description of the cavity dynamics is developed based on the slender-body theory in the context of potential flow. Direct comparisons with experimental data show that the asymptotic theory properly captures the key physical effects involved in the development of the cavity, and in particular gives a reasonable prediction of the maximum size of the cavity and the time of cavity closure. Online interviews are deemed an effective and appropriate approach for accessing discourse about the online experiences of people with disabilities. Some of the central arguments in support of conducting discursive research online, a type of qualitative approach, are delineated. Various practical benefits are considered for researchers, as well as participants—especially those with disabilities. Ethical issues surrounding access to, and the analysis of, readily available data in online communities are brought to the fore. In light of ethical dilemmas surrounding naturalistic data collection online, an alternative approach is offered, which utilizes online interviews with people with disabilities about their online experiences. A description of the data-collection process is given, including participants and recruitment, materials and procedures, rapport building, and security and ethics. This chapter aims to present mental representations by seven audiovisual specialists on Sirena, the antagonist of a noir fictional story in a multilinear interactive short film script. To this end, a reception study was created with in-depth interviews with specialists after reading the script to discuss its several aspects. This approach is of qualitative character. The study was conducted between June and October 2015 in São Paulo, Brazil. It is possible to perceive that participants have interpreted the character differently in spite of its consistent build. We could verify that the mental representation of the antagonist was aided by the world-view and experience of each interviewed specialist, which has led to unique readings of the character.

Abstract: This study investigated the incidence of faculty stalking by students in a large university system (eight campuses). A subsample of stalked faculty members was interviewed. Results are discussed in relation to categorization schemes for stalking, faculty-student interaction, changes in teaching methods, and the unique problems engendered by students stalking faculty members.

Negotiation is essential in settings where computational agents have conflicting interests and a desire to cooperate. Mechanisms in which agents exchange potential agreements according to various rules of interaction have become very popular in recent years as evident, for example, in the auction and mechanism design community. These can be seen as models of negotiation in which participants focus on their positions. It is argued, however, that if agents focus instead on the interests behind their positions, they may increase the likelihood and quality of an agreement. In order to achieve that, agents need to argue over each others’ goals and beliefs during the process of negotiation. In this paper, we identify concepts that seem essential for supporting this type of dialogue. In particular we investigate the types of arguments agents may exchange about each others’ interests, and we begin an analysis of dialogue moves involving goals.

The effects of Cr and Fe, singly and incombination were investigated on nutrients uptake (Cu, Zn and Mn), lipid peroxidation, antioxidant enzymes, chlorophyll content and growth parametersi n Zea mays L. var. Ruchi (SRHM445). Roots of the Cr treated plants were stunted and root hair formation was
greatly impaired. The leaves were bearing wilted appearance. Cr was primarily accumulated in the roots with alow translocation rate to the leaves. Cu absorption decreased with increase in Cr concentrations only in roots. In leaves there is no correlation. Iron induced lipid peroxidation was higher in the leaves
at both the concentrations (3 and 9 mg ml1) after 7d, and decreased significantly by the addition of Cr.
Concentrations of most leaves antioxidants were lower in mixed metal treatment compared to single treatments, indicating an interaction between metals leading to reduced cellular effects as indicated by lower lipid peroxidation levels. Changes in APX and GPX activities observed in the leaves of contaminated-plants suggest their involvement in heavy-metal stress tolerance.The plant seems to be tolerant as the translocation of Cr was recorded less, which decreased in the presence of Fe.

Trata-se de uma investigação de cunho qualitativo com geração de registros sob a metodologia da pesquisa-ação. A aplicação dessa sequência didática nas duas salas de aula estendeu-se de março a dezembro de 2009 e gerou, primeiramente, 41 primeiras versões do gênero em 61 aulas videogravadas. We introduce an agent-based model of interaction, drawing on the contingency approach from Luhmann's theory of social systems. The agent interactions are defined by the exchange of distinct messages. Message selection is based on the history of the interaction and developed within the confines of the problem of double contingency. We examine interaction strategies in the light of the message-exchange description using analytical and computational methods.
