I'm in the Bay.
I go by he/him pronouns. My name isn't Dora. I used to view TV shows (like Dora) daily during my childhood. I've since grown past those years. The Universe decided, a little too early into my life, that I was too old for Dora and introduced me to slasher. At eight, I went from watching a children's animated cartoon series to teenage campers gutted by a goaltender-mask-wearing maniac. Slasher took me into literature and writing; I wrote short horror fiction in my free time. My tutors seem to love some of it. I wouldn't be the kind of person I am today if not for my childhood and the username is my way of paying homage to Saturday night TV programs.
My interest is rather a niche; you could infer from my >20K edits. I mainly improve or create earthquake-related articles. I don't have a formal education qualification in geology or seismology. My interest developed over my slasher years (it had no influence) after feeling a few earthquakes back home in Myanmar in late 2012. I was a pre-teen, primary education kid, so I didn't understand anything, other than "the ground shook". Nevertheless, that was a mind-blowing experience. After gaining a basic idea about plate tectonics and earthquakes in high school geography classes, this interest really started kicking.
I joined Wikipedia in late July 2020 with the intention of making minor edits to the project. I had no plans of becoming an active contributor mainly because I didn't know how editing works. About a month later, I created my first article, an interesting 1946 doubled mainshock earthquake in Myanmar. I followed up by covering additional Burmese earthquake articles (1912 Maymyo, 1839 Ava, 1930 Bago, 1988 Myanmar–India, 1988 Lancang–Gengma, 2003 Taungdwingyi). Since then, I've been very active in the project.

[edit]The June 2011 Christchurch earthquake was a shallow magnitude 6.0 Mw earthquake that occurred on 13 June 2011 at 14:20 NZST (02:20 UTC). It was centred at a depth of 7 km (4.3 mi), about 5 km (3 mi) south-east of Christchurch, which had previously been devastated by a magnitude 6.2 MW earthquake in February 2011. The June quake was preceded by a magnitude 5.9 ML tremor that struck the region at a slightly deeper 8.9 km (5.5 mi). The United States Geological Survey reported a magnitude of 6.0 Mw and a depth of 9 km (5.6 mi).
The earthquake produced severe shaking, registering at VIII (Severe) on the Mercalli scale in and around Christchurch. It destroyed several structures and caused additional damage to many others which had been affected by previous earthquakes. The damaged tower of the historic Lyttelton Timeball Station collapsed before dismantling work could be completed. The earthquake downed phone lines and cut off power to 54,000 households. Restoration costs in Christchurch following the February earthquake were estimated to increase by NZ$6 billion (US$4.8 billion) because of the additional damage from this event. Forty-six people suffered injuries, two of which critical, and one elderly man died after being knocked unconscious. (Full article...)

[edit]On 17 February 2021, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article 1888 Ritter Island tsunami, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that the 1888 eruption of Ritter Island reduced the 780-metre tall (2,560 ft) volcano to a height of just 140 metres (460 ft)? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/1888 Ritter Island tsunami. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, 1888 Ritter Island tsunami), and if they received a combined total of at least 416.7 views per hour (ie, 5,000 views in 12 hours or 10,000 in 24), the hook may be added to the statistics page. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

On 20 June 2021, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article April 1923 Kamchatka earthquake and tsunami, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that although the April 1923 Kamchatka earthquake had a surface-wave magnitude of 6.8 to 7.3, its tsunami was larger than that of the magnitude-8.4 earthquake in February in the same region?
