Speedy deletion nomination of Category:First Nations drawing artists

DYK for Paul Parkman

edit

On 6 July 2024, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Paul Parkman, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that Paul Parkman (pictured), one of the developers of the rubella vaccine, did not monetize the patent so that the vaccine could be freely available? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Paul Parkman. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, Paul Parkman), and the hook may be added to the statistics page after its run on the Main Page has completed. Speedy deletion

edit

Hello there! I was wondering why you put a speedy deletion on my articles, I understand the sources may not have been good enough so does it need to be more popular until it can be made? Xuppu (talk) 23:27, 15 July 2024 (UTC)Reply

Hi there,
All articles on Wikipedia must be on notable subjects, and notability is generally illustrated by having reliable and independent sources. The sources on your articles were all self-published, and thus wouldn't qualify under this criteria. Subjects don't need to be popular, but they do need enough independent and reliable sources to justify having a page. ForsythiaJo (talk) 23:33, 15 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
So could the website work? Xuppu (talk) 00:09, 16 July 2024 (UTC)Reply

expand biographies

Thank you for quality biographies such as Ellen Bernstein, Paul Parkman, Joel Breman and Patricia Schultz, for expanding articles such as Sarah Gibson (composer) for In the news, for your peacemaker project, for making women green, - you are an awesome Wikipedian!

You are recipient no. 2945 of Precious, a prize of QAI. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 22:39, 22 July 2024 (UTC)Reply

In appreciation

edit

... of your activity creating bio pages for current Israeli peace and coexistence activists and organizations: I've started filling in content and references, mainly in WikiData. (For example, I tackled this one back in November 2023 and improved it today in the wake of the May 2024 proposed deletion.) It's a huge boost to encounter an unsolicited volunteer ally with shared goals. There's so much to do, as you doubtless understand. Many thanks (already being noted as I help on each page), and keep your spirits up! -- Deborahjay (talk) 13:18, 24 July 2024 (UTC)Reply

Thank you for the appreciation and for your work on the Wikidata end! I'm glad to see other people also working in this area :) If there's any organizations/activists you're aware of who are missing articles/need improvement, please let me know! ForsythiaJo (talk) 15:20, 24 July 2024 (UTC)Reply

Hey ,

So you banned my page- which I worked hard on- because it was a supposed hoax. ChatGPT backs me up, I have multiple credible sources including US governmental online websites- all over a mistype. It was obvious I meant the black bear was the soviet saboteur. I'll add that part in, but bro, don't just needlessly ban something I just made after like 2 seconds of it's creation WikipedianAncientHistorian (talk) 03:18, 5 August 2024 (UTC)Reply

Hi there - I agree in hindsight that the event described in the article was not a hoax. However, when I came across it the article was worded in a similar way to other hoax/vandalism articles I'd seen, hence the tag. I believe other people have already explained why the page was deleted on your user page, but definitely next time make sure to cite reliable sources in your draft/new articles so it's clear the article's subject is real, and to use more encylopedic wording (ie,neutral point of view, formal tone). :) Apologies for any confusion/frustration! On 13 August, Bach's cantata was 300 years old, and the image one. The cantata is an extraordinary piece, using the chorale's text and famous melody more than others in the cycle. Women in Green's "Around the World in 31 Days" GA Editathon – October 2024

edit

Hello ForsythiaJo:

WikiProject Women in Green is holding a month-long Good Article Edit-a-thon event in October 2024!

Running from October 1 to 31, 2024, WikiProject Women in Green (WiG) is hosting a Good Article (GA) edit-a-thon event with the theme Around the World in 31 Days! All experience levels welcome. Never worked on a GA project before? We'll teach you how to get started. Or maybe you're an old hand at GAs – we'd love to have you involved! Participants are invited to work on nominating and/or reviewing GA submissions related to women and women's works (e.g., books, films) during the event period. We hope to collectively cover article subjects from at least 31 countries (or broader international articles) by month's end. GA resources and one-on-one support will be provided by experienced GA editors, and participants will have the opportunity to earn a special WiG barnstar for their efforts.

We hope to see you there!
