Chevrolet Corvette, from 1953 (C1 to C8).
Produced through eight generations, the Chevrolet Corvette, known colloquially as the Vette, has been produced since 1953. The first model, a convertible, was introduced at the GM Motorama in 1953 as a concept show car with the first production car produced on June 30, 1953 at the General Motors facility in Flint, Michigan.
First generation (C1; 1953–1962)
[edit]The Chevrolet Corvette (C1) is the first generation of the Corvette sports car produced by Chevrolet. It was introduced late in the 1953 model year, and produced through 1962. It is commonly referred to as the "solid-axle" generation, as the independent rear suspension did not appear until the 1963 Sting Ray.
