Norma Deathman is an antagonist from The New Scooby-Doo Mysteries. She was featured in "Scooby's Peephole Pandemonium", the first half of the incarnation's second episode.
She was voiced by Tress MacNeille, who also voiced Mom from Futurama and Cobra Queen from Freakazoid!.
Biography
Norma Deathman is a reclusive actress who last acted in 1933, appearing in a movie titled, Fangs For the Memories. Since then, she has not been photographed or interviewed, and Mysteries Inc. was sent to Norma's home to do just that; get a story on her. While there, the gang are accosted by a series of monsters before finally encountering Norma, noticing that she has not aged in the last fifty years.
At that moment, Norma shockingly explains her youthful appearance by revealing herself as a vampire and flashing her long fangs.
Norma also revealed that she is celebrating her 300th birthday and stated she would like them to stay "for dinner", which causes Shaggy and Scooby to grab Daphne and Scrappy and escape. Rather than give chase, for whatever reason, Norma simply stood there and watched as they fled for their lives.
Trivia
- The name "Norma Deathman" is a play on Norma Desmond, a notable character from Sunset Boulevard.
- "Deathman" means "Uomo morto" in Italian.
- There are several reasons as to why she didnt chase after the gang. It could be that she was tired of chasing them after having done so all day, another is that she let them leave out of gratitude for returning her stolen jewels. It is also entirely possible that she was joking about having them "for dinner" as she has wanted them to leave.
- If the later is true, then she may not actually be a vilain.
