We can push it off on the kids. Yeah, that's what we'll do. We'll say Alecto was ambushed by the kids, them kids up there, and we'll say they forced her to press her Mark, and that's why he got a false alarm... He can punish them. Couple of kids more or less, what's the difference?
~ Amycus Carrow displaying his selfishness and cowardice.

Amycus Carrow is a minor antagonist in the Harry Potter series. He was a member of the Death Eaters led by Lord Voldemort.

He was portrayed by Ralph Ineson, who also played Ralf in First Knight, Chris Finch in the UK version of The Office, Dagmer Cleftjaw in Game of Thrones, SkekMal in The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance, and Kevdak in The Legend of Vox Machina.

Synopsis

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince

Amycus Carrow first appears in Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, where he participates in the battle of the astronomy tower. As Harry was pursuing Severus Snape and Draco Malfoy, who were escaping Hogwarts after Snape killed Dumbledore, he tried to attack Harry along with his sister, with one of them managing to hit Harry with a spell. Fortunately, Harry hit one of them with the Impediment Jinx, and left to continue the chase. After their scuffle with Harry, the siblings disapparated from Hogwarts so they wouldn't be captured.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows

Amycus first appears in Malfoy Manor at a meeting with the other Death Eaters to discuss the plans on capturing and eventually killing Harry Potter.

After Voldemort's takeover of the Ministry of Magic, Amycus Carrow was appointed as the new Defense against the Dark Arts teacher, which at the time was changed to "Dark Arts." He forced students to use the Cruciatus Curse to torture any dissidents against Voldemort's regime.

When Harry and Luna enter Ravenclaw tower and help stun Alecto, Amycus decides to blame the students on Alecto getting hurt, not caring that Voldemort would kill many of them in retaliation. When Professor Minerva McGonagall protested, he spat in her face. Harry, who was watching underneath the Cloak of Invisibility, revealed himself, enraged enough to successfully perform the Cruciatus Curse.

Personality

Amycus was extremely sadistic, deriving pleasure in torturing the students of Hogwarts, to the extent that Neville Longbottom even described him as worse than Dolores Umbridge. Amycus also displayed great cowardice in the face of failure; when Alecto Carrow was tortured by Harry, Amycus planned to blame the students for her defeat in the hopes of the students being punished and not himself. When Professor Minerva McGonagall protested, Amycus spat in her face, an act which enraged Harry so much that the latter used the Cruciatus Curse on him, with enough potency to toss him into the air screaming. His behavior towards Minerva demonstrates his obscene lack of respect for people.
