1997 Super League Test series

[edit]

I'm not sure I agree with the addition of the 1997 Super League Test series to this navbox. As far as I could tell, Australia travelled to England, played three tests against Great Britain then came straight back. To me this doesn't fall under the definition of a Kangaroo tour, in the same way that Australia travelling to England for a Tri-nations tournament doesn't. The source rugbyleagueproject.org also doesn't include it in any Kangaroo tour.--Gibson Flying V (talk) 02:15, 2 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Well, that makes it as long as the 2001 Kangaroo tour :) It is a tour of the Australian rugby league team to play the GB team. I agree its not anything like a proper Kangaroo tour but I do think it deserves a mention. Perhaps add a "see also" and have a like to the 97 Test series? If its excluded completely it feels like the reason is only because the team was on the wrong side of the SL war. Mattlore (talk) 04:51, 2 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I agree about the 2001 "tour". We could just treat that as an anomaly because of September 11, or possibly remove it as well? I'm not that fussed. Please rest assured that my reasoning is not to diminish the prominence of the 1997 season's Super League half (I've done a lot of work to the opposite effect actually). I just think that note at the bottom of this template is less than ideal and simply leaving it out (since it's not really a tour anyway) is an easy solution.--Gibson Flying V (talk) 05:07, 2 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
