Racial make up

[edit]

Submitted a change describing the subject as multiracial, as opposed to biracial. She claims a white father and a mother who is both black and Native American. "Biracial" indicates two races, which is incorrect in her case. This submission was reverted. Teemcee (talk) 23:25, 12 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Trump is a name

[edit]

The last sentence should say "and the name Trump", not "and the word Trump". It sounds deroga-tory otherwise. Especially since it links to the President of said name.67.45.96.53 (talk) 10:50, 13 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Maybe the last part of that sentence should be removed entirely, since it already mentions the President once in the same sentence(further making it look derogatory/pejorative). It is redundant and/or politicizing. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.45.96.53 (talk) 10:55, 13 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Disagree. A name is a word, so either way is correct. Second, there's nothing "derogatory" about the word "word". And third, if the name/word is already capitalized, then it's obviously a proper name. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 192.34.135.230 (talk) 00:52, 14 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Well I see that the name Trump was unlinked. This is sufficient.67.45.96.53 (talk) 03:54, 14 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

The second source (Makeda Easter (12 February 2017)) says name. Christian75 (talk) 14:08, 14 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Music credits

[edit]

I'm not a pro Wikipedia user, but would we maybe be able to add the info about songwriting and production credits? I found on her bandcamp page ( https://joyvilla.bandcamp.com/album/i-make-the-static-ep ) that the songs or at the very least all the song's lyrics are written by Joy Villa, and the production credit is both her and Barrie Gledden.

I don't know whether there's a spot for it in the format of the Discography section or if it'd be mentioned somewhere else, and I don't know whether the URL I provided counts as a usable reference. But I just always wonder about who's doing what when it comes to songs. I find it to be important info, and I see there isn't any separate article for the EP itself or anything. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 184.189.236.119 (talk) 04:11, 29 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Age and birthdate

[edit]

@The Real One Returns: -- thanks for updating the date of birth. I'm wondering -- what's your source for that date? Cloud atlas (talk) 13:58, 27 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@Cloud atlas: The California Birth Index has an entry for someone named Joy Angela Villa born in Orange County on April 25th, 1986 [1], which she herself seems to confirm on her personal, verified Instagram page (states that she is in fact 31): "joyvilla‪FALSE: Im a Soros puppet, Im controlled by aliens, Im sent from the future 2 take down Trump. True: Im 31, a Scientologist, I love Jesus, I voted 4 Obama, Im a vegan, Im 5’10, Im married, I tweeted 4 Bernie, I voted 4 @realDonaldTrump, I get death threats postGrammys, I ❤️Trump‬. Now can we please continue to #MAGA? 🇺🇸👌🏽😊#joytribe #unity #MAGA #womenwhowork #bringjoytocongress #therealjoyvilla #joyvillaexposed #joyvillamusic #rumourpatrol #fakenews" [2] Plasticmagnolias (talk) 00:26, 29 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Info in the "Political Career" section

[edit]

@Justthefacts1986 -- Thanks for working on this article. I'm curious why you added back in those two lines in the Political Career section. I tried to capture the meaning of the tweet in the sentence of the section that starts with "The day before...", referencing the original tweet as a citation footnote. And I remove the line about Villa's thoughts on congresswomen on the grounds that it is only one cherry-picked line from the interview, which could cause the article to be biased (also that line isn't cited correctly). What are your thoughts? -- Cloud atlas (talk) 03:46, 6 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Date of birth

[edit]

There has been a lot of edit warring about Villa's DoB, but these have just been to change the date, without providing any reference to support an alternative date, let alone the reliable, independent source that we require.
In addition, these changes have left the existing reference, which supports the 1991 date, leaving a contradiction, so have had to be reverted.
The existing reference does not look particularly reliable, so I have tagged that in the article, and the references I can find are all in the sort of "celebrity fact" sites, that do not appear reliable, although I cannot see several of the sites that come up in a Google search, due to them being blocked in Europe.
Can someone find a reliable, independent source? - Thanks - Arjayay (talk) 17:07, 27 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Joy Villa was born in 1986. Joy Villa was a freshman at Lompoc high school in 2000, and graduated in 2004. So do the math! Check out these links for proofs:

[1] [2] [3]

"Sarah Barthel, a performing arts and math teacher at Lompoc High, was among those who said she was caught off guard by the onslaught of attention Villa has received since wearing the dress Sunday. Barthel recalled teaching Villa in her math class when Villa was a freshman in 2000, and the teacher was apparently impressed enough by Villa's story that she invited Villa to speak to Lompoc High students in 2014, an invitation that Villa accepted."

@Grwgr47: The first link I got a data protection notice (I'm in Europe), the next two where denied by a filter on my internet access. Please cite a reliable source for your changes. N0nsensical.system(err0r?)(.log) 12:39, 28 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
