Shiv Nadar University (Institute of Eminence) is a private university located in Greater Noida, in the northern Indian state of Uttar Pradesh.[3][4] It was founded in 2011 by Shiv Nadar, the founder and chairman of HCL.[5][6][7]It is considered to be one of the premier universities in India and is the youngest institute of eminence.

History

The university, established in 2011 on a 286-acre campus, had Nikhil Sinha as its first Vice-Chancellor. On February 1, 2016, Rupamanjari Ghosh succeeded him as the second Vice-Chancellor.[8] After completing her second term, she passed the leadership to Dr. Ananya Mukherjee on January 31, 2022.[9]

In 2023, the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) ranked Shiv Nadar University 95th overall in India and 62nd among universities. The university is renowned for offering research-based courses that contribute to the advancement of Engineering, Science, Humanities, and Management fields.

  • Dr. Ananya Mukherjee is the Vice-Chancellor of Shiv Nadar Institution of Eminence. She was attracted by the opportunity to lead such an institution and returned to India after spending more than two decades in two of the largest universities in Canada - the University of British Columbia (as Provost) and York University.[10]
