- Mic Sokoli (geb. 1839 in Fang bei Bujan, Osmanisches Reich, heute Gemeinde Tropoja in Nordalbanien; gest. 20. April 1881 bei Slivova, heutiges Kosovo) war ein albanischer Nationalist und Unabhängigkeitskämpfer. Er gehörte der Liga von Prizren an, die sich für eine Autonomie albanisch besiedelter Gebiete im Osmanischen Reich einsetzte. Als Anführer von Guerilla-Truppen war Mic Sokoli an einigen Kämpfen beteiligt, wie beispielsweise dem Aufstand von Gjakova gegen Mehmet Ali Pascha. Auch gegen montenegrinische Truppen führte er in Plav und Gusinje Kämpfe (siehe Schlacht von Nokšić). Entscheidende Berühmtheit sowie Verehrung hat Mic Sokoli jedoch durch die Schlacht beim Dorf Slivova nahe Ferizovići (heute Ferizaj) erlangt. Hierbei stellte er sich mit seiner Brust vor eine Kanone der osmanischen Armee, welche ihn in der Folge traf und tötete. Mic Sokoli erhielt die Auszeichnung „Heroi i Popullit“, welche die höchste ist, die vom albanischen Staat verliehen wird. Des Weiteren ist er auf dem Stadtwappen von Ferizaj abgebildet. Die Kulla von Mic Sokoli, der Wohnturm der Familie, kann an seinem Geburtsort noch heute besichtigt werden. In den 1970er Jahren ist das stark verfallene Gebäude anlässlich des hundertsten Jahrestags der Liga von Prizren restauriert und in ein Museum umgewandelt worden. (de)

He was a noted guerrilla leader during the years of the League of Prizren and took part in the fighting in Yakova against Mehmet Ali Pasha. He fought in the Battle of Nokshiq (near Grudë) against the Montenegrins. He is remembered by Albanians for an act of heroism in April 1881, in which he sacrificed himself by pressing his body against the mouth of an Ottoman cannon. (en)

Nacque in una famiglia di patrioti: suo padre e suo zio guidarono le ribellioni dei montanari albanesi contro le riforme del governo turco (riforme di Tanzimat); il bisnonno, , fu una figura leggendaria del XVIII secolo.All'età di 7 anni perse il padre ucciso dai turchi e fu cresciuto dalla nonna. A 15 anni partecipò al primo tafferuglio contro i turchi dove tentò di uccidere l'assassino di suo padre. Nel 1855 combatté la prima battaglia contro le truppe Montenegrine, strappando la bandiera dalle mani dei nemici. In una battaglia nel 1881 morì come un vero eroe, sacrificando la sua vita ponendosi davanti a uno dei tanti cannoni nemici che stavano decimando l'esercito albanese, permettendo la distruzione del cannone e ispirando gli altri combattenti.
