- Biolab és un sol rack multi-usuari científic dissenyat per ser utilitzat en el Laboratori Columbus de l'Estació Espacial Internacional.El Biolab realitza investigacions de suport biològic en plantes petites, petits invertebrats, microorganismes, cèl·lules animals, i cultius de teixits.Inclou una incubadora equipada amb centrífugadora en què els subjectes experimentals anteriors poden ser sotmesos a nivells controlats d'acceleracions. Aquests experiments ajudaran a identificar "el paper que actua la microgravetat en tots els nivells d'un organisme, dels efectes sobre una sola cèl·lula fins a un organisme complex incloent els éssers humans." V Biolabu bude prováděn biologický výzkum drobných rostlin, malých bezobratlých, mikroorganismů, živočišných buněk a tkáňových kultur. Je vybaven inkubátorem s odstředivkami ve kterých budou zkoumané subjekty vystaveny různým hodnotám zrychlení. - Das Biolab ist ein Labor für biologische Experimente an Bord des Columbus-Raumlabors der ESA. Es ist in Form eines International Standard Payload Rack aufgebaut. Das Biolab Rack unterstützt biologische Experimente an Mikroorganismen, Zellen, Gewebekulturen, Pflanzen und kleinen Wirbellosen. Dabei sollen die Rolle und der Einfluss der Gravitation auf die verschiedenen Ebenen des Lebens – von der Zelle bis zur Pflanze oder dem Insekt – untersucht werden. Die biologischen Untersuchungsproben werden mit einem Bio-Container zur Internationalen Raumstation (ISS) gebracht und dort manuell ins Biolab eingebracht. Die Untersuchungen können teils automatisch durchgeführt werden. Die typische Untersuchungsdauer reicht dabei vom einzelnen Tag bis zu drei Monaten. (de)
