Adding a new AfD discussion

Adding an AfD to this page does not add it to the main page at WP:AFD. Similarly, removing an AfD from this page does not remove it from the main page at WP:AFD. If you want to nominate an article for deletion, go through the process on that page before adding it to this page. To add a discussion to this page, follow these steps:

Edit this page and add {{Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/PageName}} to the top of the list. Replace "PageName" with the relevant article name, i.e. the one on the existing AFD discussion. Also, indicate the title of the article in the edit summary as it is particularly helpful to add a link to the article in the edit summary. When you save the page, the discussion will automatically appear.
You should also tag the AfD by adding {{subst:delsort|Visual arts|~~~~}} to it, which will inform editors that it has been listed here. You may place this tag above or below the nomination statement or at the end of the discussion thread.

Closed AfD discussions are automatically removed by a bot.

Other types of discussions

You can also add and remove other discussions (prod, CfD, TfD etc.) related to Visual arts. For the other XfD's, the process is the same as AfD (except {{Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/PageName}} is used for MFD and {{transclude xfd}} for the rest). I'm not finding this professor and art critic notable per WP:Nacademic nor WP:NAUTHOR. The current sourcing consists of two press releases and a listing that is a simple name check. Comment - Many of the sources are local, and many are written by followers/adherents/members of his so-called "cultural movement", Empathism, who have signed his "manifesto", therefore are not independent.

Delete - As I'm slogging through the 94 ref-bombed citations I am finding that many of these sources are user-submitted content, blogs, things written by his Empathism adherents and members, and some sources don't mention him at all. The article is bloated with content supported in this way, and I do not think it should remain in the encyclopedia, per WP:PROMO by the two now-blocked sockpuppets (see: [2] and [3]). Delete. For full disclosure I was recently heavily involved in both the ANI thread and the SPI which resulted in the socks being blocked. However, I agree with the positions taken by Allan Nonymous and Netherzone above. Visual representations of Turing machines

Fails GNG. The article is currently an amalgamation of primary sources and non-notable pictures. The only secondary sources are those that discuss Turing himself; this material is already discussed in the main Turing machine article, which also contains pictures of physical implementations. Delete. There has been some research in computer science education on visual representations of Turing machines or on ways of making Turing machines accessible through other senses; https://doi.org/10.1109/VL.1993.269602 and https://doi.org/10.1145/2157136.2157190 are examples. So there might be some scope for an article with this title, but I don't think any of the present content is salvageable or useful for turning this into a proper article. —David Eppstein (talk) 00:42, 27 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Elvio Annese

Another article on a non-notable artist and professor from a "walled garden"-type series of articles promoting the "members" of Menotti Lerro's "movement/manifesto", Empathism and his New Manifesto of Arts. The subject of this article does not meet WP:GNG, all the sources are primary/connected except the Milano Today source that simple name-checks him in a mention. As an academic, he fails WP:NACADEMIC as he has a h-index of zero on Google Scholar and Scopus, and all I could find was an article written by Lerro about his own (Lerro's) so-called Empathic movement. Angelo Casciello

This article on an Italian artist is part of a sort-of "walled garden" of articles on artists and academics affiliated with Menotti Lerro's so-called movement, Empathism and who signed his manifesto. The subject of the article does not meet WP:GNG as the sources are all primary sources except, perhaps one, however that may be a press release. Fails WP:NARTIST. The article claims he was in the Venice Bienale 3 times, altho this could not be verified by the Venice Bienale itself [4]], so perhaps he was in one of the satellite shows but not represented in the actual Bienale. As an academic he fails WP:NACADEMIC, as there is an h-index score of zero on Google Scholar and Scopus I found a few things he wrote, but they were not cited by others. ~~Comment~~ Changing vote to Delete, per nomination. ~~This does look like a cookie-cutter article springing from Empathism. Leaving that aside, I see him in ALK online, and two exhibitions.~~ I cannnot, however, find RS for the claim that he was at the Venice Biennale three times, unless the source given https://www.accademiavirtuosi.it/accademici/biovirtuoso.php?id=20 is to be trusted. Perhaps I am searching the internet incorrectly, but I thought the Biennale was documented well by the Biennale. He has been quoted in the volume by Vittorio Sgarbi (edited by), La scultura del Novecento in Italia, in Enciclopedia Universale dell'Arte (Mondadori: 1990); in Gillo Dorfles, Ultime tendenze nell'arte oggi (Feltrinelli: 1999) and in Vittorio Sgarbi (edited by), Lo Stato dell’Arte / Campania 54 Biennale di Venezia (Skira publishing: 2011). is just a weird ~~claim~~ sentence. Dayfree Press

While (some of) the webcomics that were part of Dayfree Press are notable, DP itself doesn't appear to have received significant coverage in reliable sources. There's this article in the The Comics Grid journal, which brings it up on p. 4 and 9 (and which could be considered sigcov, I guess). Comment. Hi toweli there are also mentions alongside other webcomic collectives in A History of Webcomics (2006) and Webcomics 2.0 (2008) also has a section on webcomics collectives. So combined with the Comics Grid Journal article you found...and possibly others (that don't mention Dayfree Press), my proposed solution as a WP:ATD (if you are interested) would be to create a new "List of webcomic collectives" article (if one doesn't already exist) and redirect Dayfree Press to that one. While the webcomics that are part of the alliance are notable, the alliance itself doesn't appear to have received significant coverage in reliable sources; I was only able to find mentions. Engschrift

Initially PRODed by me, for the following reason:

In addition to the existing relying on a single source and vagueness issues (likely due to translation), the information in the article could easily be included onto the existing articles – DIN 1451, Austria (typeface), Tern (typeface) and Road signs in Austria – with the provision of sources, weakening the article's basis.

Deletion was objected, a merged was proposed instead. However, it is not possible to redirect one article to 3 others. Created a topic at WikiProject Typography over 4 months ago with no response. Merge to DIN 1451, by condensing the Austria section into a single sentence and placing it under DIN_1451#Usage_examples (this is sourced - the article's only source refers to this). I don't think the article is much to go by – it can't even stick to its own subject in the lead. If it were possible, a disambiguation page (with DIN 1451 as its primary article) would be ideal, with links to Austria (typeface), Tern (typeface) and FE-Schrift.
