Creepy fish

Not everything in nature is as beautiful or as hilarious as we're mostly used to. It has a dark side, too, and I'll completely understand if this list by *Bored Panda* forces you to build a pillow-fort in your living room and avoid going outside for a week.

In this lesson, students will learn about the mysterious and strange anglerfish. What can we discover about its adaptation to the deepest and darkest parts of the ocean?

Do Penguins Have Teeth? Well, the simple answer is no, they don't have teeth. Instead, penguins have serrated needle-like spines on the top and bottom of their mouth. And since penguins don't chew their food, these spines main purpose is for hunting. These rows of 'barbs' are positioned slightly inwards so it’s easier for fish to go in, but very difficult to escape.

Check out these animals, although you'll have to look closely. Why? Because they're invisible! Well ok, maybe not, but they are transparent. Want to know why many of the animals featured below are sea-dwelling creatures? The answer is all about self-preservation. As pointed out by Scientific American's Sönke Johnsen, "almost all open ocean animals not otherwise protected by teeth, toxins, speed or small size have some degree of invisibility."
