Congratulations to the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community, which was just awarded $10M through a US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Climate Pollution Reduction Grant. We helped the Tribe in developing a climate action plan, which this funding will help to implement! Whether it’s decarbonizing fleets, building new renewable energy facilities, auditing energy use, or even creating carbon sinks through planting trees, ERG can help you plan for a lower-carbon future. https://lnkd.in/eHjVxRix #InflationReductionAct #ClimatePollutionReductionGrant

Today, EPA announced the recipients of $300 million in Climate Pollution Reduction Grants as part of the Biden-Harris Administration’s Investing in America agenda. EPA has selected 34 applications to fund projects proposed by 33 Tribal recipients and the Municipality of Saipan in the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands to implement community-driven solutions to tackle the climate crisis, reduce air pollution, advance environmental justice, and accelerate the clean energy transition. The proposed projects would cumulatively reduce greenhouse gas pollution by over 7 million metric tons of carbon dioxide by 2050 – equivalent to the carbon dioxide emitted from nearly 1.4 million homes' electricity use for one year. https://zurl.co/gOpe

“Taking these essential extra steps will involve the use of carbon markets, but too often we think about them in isolation, ignore how they have changed, and overlook further changes that are on the horizon. This report underscores the role they can play in contributing to the fight against climate change and biodiversity loss, both now and in the future.” – CEO John Connor in The Australian Financial Review yesterday establishing the importance of the inaugural Carbon Market Report as a key reference point for the Australian carbon market moving forward. Energy Projects & Business Development Manager at INP-South Africa PPP Project Manager - Waste to Energy
City of Johannesburg Development Bank of Southern Africa (DBSA) Greater #awareness is needed in #SouthAfrica about the sound reasons why environmental regulations should discourage any additional #landfill #development. #Municipalities and #metros should urgently and actively focus on #diverting #waste away from landfills by #Council decisions for developing and #funding of #wastetoenergy plants with benefit of #electricitygeneration as a byproduct. #Landfillgas to #power should be expedited on all landfills with remaining life to avert #methane emissions. Thanks to #EnergyJoburg for these latter landfillgas-to-power projects producing up to 8MW for Joburg residents.
Landfills have no place in a sustainable future. The US must implement policies to eliminate landfills and accelerate the adoption of Waste-to-Energy technologies to manage non-recyclable residual waste to recover materials and renewable energy for a cleaner, greener future. It's time to act now so we can make significant progress toward our climate goals.

With investments from the #InflationReductionAct, states can play an active role in reducing pollution. Through the Climate Pollution Reduction Grant (CPRG) program, 46 states have accepted $3 million each from EPA in planning grant funds. This year, those states, in addition to certain municipalities, will compete for the remaining $4.6 billion of implementation funding. This is an unprecedented opportunity for states to decarbonize their economies, with a wide array of options to develop their own state-specific Priority Climate Action Plan. CATF’s John Carlson provides a framework to help guide state officials in designing competitive CPRG implementation grant applications: https://lnkd.in/gVR9fahA
