Stop Saying "You Don't Need Kubernetes!" This is a post I read earlier this week. His points were - Kubernetes is complicated because its flexible. - You want to build something that lasts, choose a technology that can last. - Not choosing Kubernetes will bite you in 2-3 years when you need an advanced/flexible solution. - The only reason people don't like Kubernetes is that they're grumpy old men who've been burnt by how complicated it was. I disagree with a lot of what he said. 1. 63% of tech startups fail within 5 years. Why optimise for something that probably won't happen? 2. Codebases change rapidly in startups. Why not build something that gets you from $0 to $1M / year. You can rebuild it at that point (if you even need to) 3. If you've got large sections of your community complaining about how complicated and ovecr-engineered your tool is, maybe it wasn't the right tool? I saw a post from someone a while ago that went along the lines of: "Kubernetes experts say that you need it at any scale. Serverless experts say you should use a serverless first approach, until you find a good reason not to" What do you think?
