The women's sports revolution is coming to audio. I have been DYING to do this story for years, but quite frankly, for a while, there just weren't enough major podcasts about women's sports for me to get the pitch to the point I wanted. Then, around this summer, iHeartMedia and Deep Blue Sports + Entertainment debuted their Women’s Sports Audio Network. Vox Media signed Megan Rapinoe and Sue Bird to the network. Women-focused media outlets like Dear Media and Betches Media started to get more into sports content, podcasts included. The past year has also been a turning point for some of the more longstanding players in women's sports podcasts, like The Athletic and The GIST. Keeping my eye on the whole ecosystem for shoulder programming around women's sports. Just speaking personally, there's demand for it.
