A partner at IDG Capital has been accused of providing information about a Shenzhen-listed company to a bank employee who was fined earlier this month for insider trading. At the end of 2022, a fund of IDG Capital participated in asset reorganization transaction of Jiangsu Tongrun Equipment Technology Co., Ltd. (002150.SZ) as a strategic investor. At that time, a person named Wu Xuhang bought the stock with more than CNY 23 million ($ 3.18 million) before the disclosure of the relevant insider information. Wu sold all of the shares after the information was made public and ultimately made a profit of more than CNY 35 million ($ 4.83 million) after deducting taxes and fees. The Jiangsu bureau of the China Securities Regulatory Commission (CSRC) accused a partner surnamed Yu at IDG Capital’s investment arm in Shanghai of giving Wu this material information. The Jiangsu bureau decided to fine Wu's illegal gains amounting to CNY 106 million($ 14.64 million). IDG Capital was the first investment organization to launch a venture capital business in China, has participated in the early-stage investment of more than half of China's unicorn companies, and has completed over 500 exits. According to incomplete statistics, IDG's current management scale has exceeded CNY100 billion($ 13.81 billion). #China #stockmarket #venturecapital #regulators #insidetrading
