    We are developing predictive modeling tools for identifying CKD patients who's trajectories suggest they are at risk for end-stage renal disease. Our aim is to use these models to stratify patients who require specialty care and better manage this population of chronically ill patients.

  • Principal Investigator, CALYPSO: Machine Learning for Assessing & Managing Surgical Outcomes

    In conjunction with co-PI's Christopher Mantyh & Julie Thacker (Surgery), and Katherine Heller (Statistical Sciences) we are building an analytic and deployment platform for learning about our surgical patients via the EHR, deploying predictive models that enhance clinical decision making, and operationalizing interventions that will optimize outcomes. Funded by the Duke Institute for Health Innovations.

    Leading a School of Medicine-wide effort to build centralized research data storage infrastructure and interfaces for generating research data provenance, assessing data integrity, and integrating with analytic tools. Funded by the Deans' Office. Operational management via the Office of Research Informatics.

    Faculty Lead for Informatics for Duke's Coordinating Center and site functions in the Duke-Stanford-Google Life Sciences "Baseline Study", a 10000-participant, 5-year longitudinal cohort study assessing transitions in state from healthy "baseline" to clinical endpoints in cardiovascular and neoplastic disease.

    Was Principal Investigator and Product Lead for "clearScience", an A.P. Sloan Foundation funded project to develop a reproducible scientific workflows, a Provenance API and integration with the Synapse scientific repository REST API.
