Getting worried about 2025? Inflation may be down, but expenses for medical groups have risen nearly 3x more than revenue since the pandemic. Meanwhile, there was only a 1% increase in the CMS 2024 Medicare Physician Fee Schedule for neurologists. Median total revenue per physician increased 9.1% compared to pre-pandemic performance, while median total expense per physician increased 26.5% over the same period, according to an American Medical Group Association (AMGA) 2023 Medical Group Operations and Finance survey. Neurology practices will continue to contend with rising costs beyond just the 3.4% increase in the overall consumer price index (CPI) from December 2022 to December 2023. In 2025, 3 operational and financial challenges will persist: - Rising operating costs - A severe healthcare labor shortage - The transition to value (like the GUIDE program) Can your practice achieve financial sustainability? Neurology practices need a win for patients, providers, and clinical support staff - and the bottom line. Yet the most recent available data from CMS (2022) shows only 0.44% of Neurology providers billed Chronic Care Management (CCM) codes. Chronic care is an essential component of neurological care. Take Alzheimer’s disease. More than 95% of these patients have at least one chronic condition. They are also 3.8 times more likely to have 6 or more chronic conditions. A Chronic Care Management service line can help your patients, their caregivers, and your practice. Our team has worked side by side with neurology practices to stand up CCM service lines. We know how to overcome many of the operational and financial challenges they face so that they can be fairly compensated for the care they deliver between visits. If you’re interested in a complimentary analysis of your CCM service line opportunities, please message us. We’d love to show you what you can achieve by the end of 2024. When Katie Ross launched a Connected Care service at DENT Neurologic Institute, over 1000 patients joined within the first 48 hours. “When you hear ‘a thousand patients’, at least from my operational mind, that sounds like a lot of work that somebody needs to do,” said Ross, the Director of Clinical Operations. And she’s not alone – when neurology practices start offering Connected Care from Phamily, they typically see these enrollment numbers. Neurology patients want and need easily accessible support between visits. That may sound scary. But don’t worry – we’ve got you. Phamily offers three different staffing strategies to help your practice cost-effectively and profitably manage this demand. https://hubs.li/Q02Lswf30
