It underscores the critical role that forensic professionals play in the criminal justice system, transforming scientific insights into the threads of truth that weave justice. Today, we give a special shout out to our incredible team at the DCI Crime Lab. Their mission is to provide thorough, accurate and confidential handling of evidence, helping the criminal justice community make informed decisions. Here are just a few of the vital services they provide: 🔬 Recognizing, recovering, packaging, marking, sealing and analyzing physical evidence 📰 Preparing technical reports of analyses and providing court testimony 👮♀ Training law enforcement officers in advanced evidence handling procedures 🚨 Processing crime scenes We are grateful for the dedication and expertise of our forensic scientists. Two of our exceptional Electronic Storage Detection (ESD) K9 teams with our Division of Criminal Investigation have successfully completed their annual recertification! 🐾 ESD K9 Welles with handler Special Agent Hai Tran, and ESD K9 Cruzer with handler Special Agent Chad Standard, traveled to Indianapolis for an intensive three-day course. The teams completed several evaluations, including room, vehicle, and outside area certification tests. They also honed advanced deployment techniques, ensuring they remain at the top of their game in ESD detection. Job well done!👏🐕🦺 #IowaDPS #IowaDCI #ESDK9
