  • Late yesterday afternoon we were informed by the US Department of State that they received notice from the People’s Republic of China Ministry of Civil Affairs announcing the cessation of international adoptions from China. Specifically, “...beginning August 28, 2024, except for foreigners adopting stepchildren and children of collateral relatives within three generations in China, civil affairs departments across China will no longer carry out foreign adoption work.” The staff of Gladney are incredibly saddened by this news, and our hearts especially go out to those waiting families and children directly affected by this announcement. Gladney Center for Adoption has been facilitating adoptions from China since 1992. Collectively Gladney and Madison have united over 2500 children from China with forever families here in the US. Our entire organization is honored to have made such an impact on so many lives through the China adoption program, and although our work will look and feel different, we wish to remain available assisting any national families who remain eligible. We will continue to closely monitor the situation and should the tides change, we welcome the opportunity to serve China in the future. Gladney believes all children deserve a loving, caring home. We remain committed to seeking opportunities to create and nourish international adoption programs. During this difficult time, please reach out to us with any questions you may have. We are in this together. And we hope that one day this policy will be changed. For our China families – our thoughts are with you.

  • Have you heard the term, "waiting child" and wondered what it means? While there are children waiting all around the world for families, we often use it to refer to children in the Texas foster care system whose parental rights have been terminated and who are legally eligible for adoption. Our New Beginnings program helps find families for children in the Texas foster care system. If you would like to learn how to become a family for these children, visit our website here to learn more: https://ow.ly/gyJo50Tgnb8
