About us
Genesys Works Chicago's mission is to provide pathways to career success for high school students in underserved communities through skills training, meaningful work experiences, and impactful relationships. We envision a future where all young adults are equipped and empowered with the knowledge and skills required to achieve career success, upward mobility, and a lifetime of economic self-sufficiency. Our program intervenes in young people’s lives at a crucial time when they are making critical decisions about their futures. The program provides rising public high school seniors with 140 hours of business technology and accounting/finance training over an eight-week paid summer training session, followed by a part-time ten-month paid internship of 1,000 hours with Chicago Corporations.

This day last month marked the end of my internship at TransUnion. For 11 months, I worked in person at the TransUnion Chicago office nearly every day during my senior year of high school. During my time at the company, I helped the IT team with various projects, such as setting up workspaces for employees, decommissioning laptops, replacing laptops components, just to name a few on many. I want to thank Genesys Works Chicago and TransUnion for this amazing opportunity and I’m blessed and truly grateful to have experienced this. I am now pursuing my degree in Computer Science at Bradley University and I will be taking the the knowledge that my mentors shared with me on my journey as well. Thank you!

On August 30th, 2024, Officially wrapped up my internship at CME Group. I would like to reflect on my year long experience & talk about my growth as well. Over the course of my internship, I had the opportunity to work on the Marketing floor, & what an incredible opportunity that was. I was part of the Analytics team, where my role was to pull analytics/data for marketing managers, campaigns, & previous teams that we've worked with before. Give insights alongside the analytics, so that whoever I'm delivering the analytics understands what the data is about. Of course I wasn't alone throughout the learning process & my growth. I owe it all to my manager Somya Bhagwagar. Thanks to her, not only did I build these technical skills, but I also experienced growth in my personal life. I learned the importance of networking, & balancing work with my personal life. I've become more organized & broken out of that introverted shell I've been living in. She pushed me to have 1 on 1's with colleagues, encouraged me to step out of my comfort zone, embrace mistakes & see them as opportunities to improve. I enjoyed my time at CME Group, not only am I a more skilled person, but a confident one as well. This was an experience I will never forget! I've already started my journey into Columbia College Chicago, & have enjoyed it so far. Getting to meet new people, enhance my creative skills, as well as learning new ones. I will be back to CME, & it seems to be sooner than expected! Can't wait to catch up with everyone once again as well as meet & connect with new people as well.

Now an IT Security Analyst at Tempus AI , Matthew powerfully shared his journey: "I’m currently in my third year working at Tempus AI in Cyber Security. Tempus’s mission is to harness the power of artificial intelligence and data science to advance precision medicine, particularly in oncology and other complex diseases, making it accessible to researchers, physicians, and other healthcare professionals. My role involves ensuring that data, networks, and systems remain secure. Reflecting on my journey, I realize how crucial Genesys Works was in shaping the path that led me here.
