While fans greatly appreciate Tom Cruise’s performance and stunts in the Mission: Impossible and Top Gun franchises, his one role often goes underappreciated. Cruise turned into a cold-blooded hitman in Michael Mann’s 2004 thriller film, Collateral. Mann was impressed with how Cruise perfectly fit the sociopathy of the film’s villain Vincent.

Mann also revealed the Method acting of the actor. The director’s words about Cruise make him a perfect candidate for Quentin Tarantino’s final film. Tarantino’s films usually feature such unhinged characters, who show traits of borderline psychopathy. Cruise’s Collateral villain even feels like a character right out of a Tarantino film.

Quentin Tarantino may be one of the finest filmmakers in the world, but he has built up quite the reputation over the years as a contentious man. He's nursed grudges against actors, executives, and film critics; he even slapped producer Don Murphy during a run-in at a West Hollywood restaurant. That said, I know lots of people who've worked with Tarantino, and every single one would happily work with him again. He can be intense and exacting to an exhausting degree, but at the end of the day he loves making movies and, according to those I know who've collaborated with him, he wants everyone on his sets to love the experience as much as he does.
I do, however, think he had a brat period, and I think it switched on and off between his Cannes coronation in 1994 with "Pulp Fiction" and the lead-up to the making of "Kill Bill.

Have you ever wondered what it’s like to cook up a masterpiece in a kitchen of creative chaos? Well, if there’s one chef who knows how to serve up unforgettable dishes, it’s Quentin Tarantino. With plenty of delectable films under his belt, the director, 61, has consistently served us courses of iconic characters, most especially his villains, dripping with richly composed dialogue like a well-cooked sauce.

While he has a longstanding tradition of sympathizing with his culinary creations, even the less palatable ones, there’s one villain he just can’t choke down—Django Unchained’s Calvin Candie.
The two-time Academy Award winner once confessed how he usually “likes them [his wicked characters] to some degree or another” including the notorious Hans Landa (from Inglourious Basterds). But Candie? Oh boy, he’s that burnt piece of toast that Tarantino “really, really hated...

Anyone who has watched even a single Quentin Tarantino movie knows that no other director can ever replicate just how unique and mesmerizing his vision is. Even with a limited filmography, it never feels as if there are too few or too many of his movies. The range each of them provides showcases the kind of dedication not only the director puts into the project but also the entire cast and crew of the films.

Ray Fisher ignites the screen as Lymon, the best friend of lead character Boy Willie Charles, played by John David Washington, in Netflix’s period drama “The Piano Lesson.” His portrayal has even sparked some early Oscar buzz.
Fisher’s last few years have been challenging following his public dispute with “Justice League” director Joss Whedon and former DC Films president Walter Hamada. But this project offers Fisher a chance to move forward.
“What helped this entire process is, I’ve got to give it up to August Wilson,” Fisher said during an interview at the Variety Studio, sponsored by J.Crew and SharkNinja, at the Toronto International Film Festival. “The juxtaposition that existed within the piece, within the character. I think there’s a little of Lymon Jackson in all of us. There’s an innocence about him in this piece that many lose as time passes, especially when you endure such hardship.

The one-sided beef between Will Smith and Tom Cruise was indeed very real at one point. During his early years in Hollywood, Will Smith consciously steered clear of tackling heavy subjects like slavery. His approach began to shift, however, after he watched Django Unchained.

The film just like it did for countless folks, had a profound impact on him, reshaping his views on the types of stories he wanted to tell about his community. Smith thus eventually chose to dive into the subject matter by starring in Emancipation, the 2022 movie.

Actor Michael Keaton has a diverse filmography to boast of. From superhero movies to comedies to dramas, he has dipped his toes in all different pools and come out successful. The actor was born as Michael Douglas, but since another actor by the same name was already in the Screen Actors Guild, Keaton had to change his to become a part of it.

Christoph Waltz was intrigued by the romantic element of 'Dracula: A Love Tale'.The Oscar-winning actor features in Luc Besson's upcoming horror movie as the priest and revealed that the reimagining of Bram Stoker's classic novel as a doomed love story was instrumental in him joining the cast.Speaking to Collider, Christoph said: "I wanted to work with Luc and this angle on 'Dracula'. I read the novel; I really think the novel is a drag. It's boring, it's flat. It's popular because it was popular in the late 19th century."There have been 'Dracula' movies before. It needs to be seen clearly, but I wanted to work with Luc and Luc's – it's more than an angle, it's more than an approach – Luc's idea of the vision of the story is that 'Dracula' is a love story. So, that's wonderful."Christoph is...

Review: If there’s one thing I’ve always appreciated about Peter Dinklage it’s that he often avoids roles that highlight his dwarfism. He’s such a presence that he can take a role intended for a larger actor and make it totally believable. His desire to not be put into a box is quite commendable and it shines through in his work. He’s always putting his best foot forward, and creating interesting characters, which is why I was immediately interested in his new Western, The Thicket. Add in an eclectic group of side characters and you’ve got the makings of one of the better Westerns of the year.

Quentin Tarantino is one of the best directors of his generation, who continues to set new standards for filmmaking even today. The filmmaker directed the 2007 action-slasher film Death Proof, which was first released as a part of the double feature, Grindhouse. Despite being one of Tarantino’s more obscure movies, it still did one thing right that the MCU can only dream of.

Quentin Tarantino isn’t the biggest fan of The Beatles’ music, but he loves one of their movies. The film in question is very different from his own. Here’s a look at one of Tarantino’s most surprising opinions.
Quentin Tarantino fell in love with a Beatles movie in the 1990s
In Pulp Fiction, Uma Thurman’s character said that there are two types of people in the world Elvis people and Beatles people. She opines that Elvis people can like The Beatles and Beatles people can like Elvis but nobody can like both equally. She intuits that John Travolta’s character is an Elvis man.
One might assume this dialog is just an interesting bit of character-building rather than a heartfelt observation. However, Tarantino believes what he wrote. During a 2021 interview with W, Tarantino named his favorite Hollywood movies from the late 1960s.

"Django Unchained" is a surprisingly important movie in Quentin Tarantino's filmography. It was his first Western, it marked his first collaboration with Leonardo DiCaprio, and it earned Christoph Waltz his second Oscar in a row while working with the director following his win for "Inglourious Basterds." The film arguably boasts one of the more impressive ensemble casts that Tarantino's ever assembled, and that's truly saying something. As it turns out, though, the cast could have been even more impressive -- as Kurt Russell was supposed to be in it before dropping out late in the game.
By that point, Russell had already worked with Tarantino on his half of the double feature "Grindhouse," resulting in 2007's "Death Proof." They enjoyed the collaboration and intended to work together again on "Django." Unfortunately, Russell and Sacha Baron Cohen ("Borat") dropped out in May of 2012. If one is looking for a real-life depiction of the human experience, one should look no further than Quentin Tarantino. From Pulp Fiction to Django Unchained, Inglorious Bastards, and even Kill Bill, the director showcases an odd mix between raw, realistic characters, and films that are love letters to Hollywood. Being the perfect balance of the two, he certainly knows a thing or two about striking feelings from his audience.

While a majority of the conversation around the film was about its story, there was one specific scene that ended up being a little too gory for some viewers.

Veteran producer Stacey Sher still has love for critically-maligned “Poolman” directed by Chris Pine.
“It’s a gorgeous film. Chris made the movie he set out to make. He believed in it and I believed in Chris. I still do. He’s a really gifted filmmaker.”
Following its Toronto premiere, Pine’s film became one of the worst-reviewed titles last year, with Variety’s Owen Gleiberman calling it “not only the worst film I saw during the fall festival season but would likely be one of the worst films in any year it came out.”
But Sher believes you have to always support your director.
“Yes – if you believe in that person. Quentin Tarantino may have said that to me a long time ago: ‘The reviews of your movies aren’t written the weekend they come out. They are written 10, 20, 30 years after they come out. It’s all about how they endure.

Few filmmakers can claim to have helped shape an entire era of cinema, but the boom in 1990s indie cinema is impossible to imagine without producer Stacey Sher.
“If you say, U.S. independent cinema of the ’90s, whatever film touched your feelings, your emotions and your memory, most probably, it has Stacey involved in it,” says Locarno film festival artistic director Giona A. Nazzaro, on the reason Locarno is honoring Sher with its 2024 Premio Raimondo Rezzonico, or best independent producer, award.
After a six-year mentorship under legendary producers Deborah Hill and Linda Obst, making such films as Chris Columbus’ debut Adventures in Babysitting and Terry Gilliam’s The Fisher King, Sher joined the Danny DeVito and Michael Shamberg’s newly-founded indie shingle Jersey Films, soon becoming a partner. At Jersey, she was instrumental in championing a new generation of directors — Quentin Tarantino, Steven Soderbergh, Andrew Niccol, Ben Stiller — whose films would define a decade.

Have you ever witnessed the roller coaster journey of a big-screen legend, marked by an illustrious rise? Look no further than the enchanting odyssey of Kevin Costner. From dancing with wolves at the zenith of his career to weathering the storm of films that missed the mark, the actor’s narrative is anything but dull.
Certainly, not every actor can claim to have been the king of the box office hill—a title Costner wore like a crown during the early ‘90s. That being said, the actor, 69, seized the reins of success with the hit series Yellowstone. This wasn’t just a stroke of luck; it was a testament to his enduring clout, paving the way for him to helm his four-part magnum opus, Horizon: An American Saga.

Apart from being filled with references to popular culture and extended dialogues, another notable ingredient that makes Quentin Tarantinon’s work stand out is his use of stylized violence. But over the years, the acclaimed filmmaker has landed in several controversies following his use of excessive violence and the use of the N-word in his films.
Although the Pulp Fiction director addressed the above subjects on many occasions throughout his career, the director lost his cool after being bombarded with the same question during an interview.

It’s hidden behind a fortress of foliage, so it’s hard to say what exactly it looks like. The other houses in this verdant patch of Brentwood, about a mile north of Sunset, vary in architectural styles from terra-cotta-topped Mediterranean casas to multimillion-dollar midcentury clapboards. But try to zero in on this gated, 35,000-square-foot, four-bedroom home by using Google Maps Street View, and all you’ll see is a blurry splotch. The property has been digitally obscured, by request, for privacy.

We weren't sure if this would ever actually see the light of day, but Spawn creator Todd McFarlane has now taken to social media to announce that the script for the long-awaited reboot is finally complete.
The project has also been given an official title: King Spawn.
We assume this means the story will be at least partially based on the King Spawn comic run, which you can check out a synopsis for below.
"King Spawn further expands the Spawn Universe with a growing presence of Hell, Heaven, and Heroes here on Earth. A classic villain from Spawn's past has begun asserting his powers on Earth by corrupting as many souls as possible. And only Spawn knows that he even exists."

Django Unchained was a huge hit with audiences, having won Oscars in two categories, including Best Director. There were many positive reviews at the time of its release, and one of Leonardo DiCaprio’s most iconic scenes, which people still talk about it, comes from this very production.
Will Smith in The Pursuit of Happyness (Sony Pictures)
However, the lead role wasn’t originally meant for Jamie Foxx. In fact, Tarantino had offered it to another very famous actor within the Hollywood industry, who only turned it down for some personal reasons. Little did he know that the movie was bound for success. Does he regret his decision?

Besides his appearances as Nick Fury in the MCU and frequent collaborations with Quentin Tarantino, Samuel L. Jackson is also popular for getting some of the most bizarre on-screen deaths. From being blown in Django Unchained to being stabbed by a weaponized leg in Kingsman 2, and turning to dust in Avengers: Infinity War, Jackson has openly stated that he loves to die in his films.
However, when Samuel L. Jackson appeared in a minor role in Jurassic Park, his wish to get another memorable on-screen death went unfulfilled due to a unique reason, a hurricane.

As with leading men, the winner of Best Supporting Actor at the Oscars is usually one of the more seasoned competitors. Of the 88 winners to date, only four Best Supporting Actor champs were in their 20s and just 15 were thirtysomething, including 2021 champ Daniel Kaluuya (“Judas and the Messiah”). The 2024 winner, Robert Downey, Jr., was 58 when he picked up his prize for “Oppenheimer.” He joined 16 previous winners who were in their 50s when they took home the trophy. Kevin Costner's long-awaited Western epic "Horizon: An American Saga -- Chapter 1" hit theaters this past weekend. This was a true passion project for the "Dances With Wolves" director, who put around $38 million of his own money, in addition to securing lots of other financing from mystery investors, to get the film made. It's the first in a planned four-film saga, with Warner Bros. set to release "Chapter 2" in mere weeks on August 16. Unfortunately, in the early going, this experiment has not panned out financially.
Opening against "A Quiet Place: Day One," the first installment in Costner's new franchise was buried. "Horizon" opened to a mere $11 million domestically, placing at number three on the charts for the weekend, scarcely above "Bad Boys: Ride or Die" ($10.3 million), which was in its fourth weekend of release. It certainly doesn't help that "Inside Out 2" has remained a juggernaut, passing $1 billion worldwide...

Quentin Tarantino is arguably one of the best auteur directors who brings a distinct style to his films that is enjoyed by fans. With great films like Pulp Fiction, Kill Bill, Django Unchained, and Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, the filmmaker has always maintained his integrity as a director who goes for original material.

One of the most popular genres is definitely the Western. It's funny that westerns were popular in the 50's and 60's and then came back with a new wave of fame so many years later. One of the most popular shows of the genre is Yellowstone, but apparently there are many movies that give a more realistic portrayal of everything terrible that usually happens in a given reality.
And although the movie is far shorter than a series, we guarantee you that these 5 movies will give you much more than any show could.
1. Django Unchained (2012)
Quentin Tarantino's iconic film is definitely worthy of being number 1 on the list. Created in 2012, it tells the story of a slave named Django who is freed by a bounty hunter named King Schultz for his own purposes. Django helped Schultz and then wanted to find out where his wife was sold to. And they start their adventure.

Today, Quentin Tarantino remains one of the most acclaimed directors in Hollywood, known not only to cinephiles, but also to people who occasionally enjoy a fun action or gory slasher. The mass appeal is what made the director so popular, but it doesn't take away from his creative genius.
The director once admitted that he will only make 10 movies in his career, and he hasn't released the last one yet. The other 9, however, will make a great addition to anyone's movie night. So check out the ratings below and find out which Tarantino films are the best to start with and which ones you might want to skip.
Grindhouse Presents: Death Proof (2007) – 64%
As dynamic and violent as one expects from Quentin Tarantino's movie, Grindhouse Presents: Death Proof failed to impress viewers for some reason. While the rating is still fresh, the 64% mark is a far cry from any of the director's other movies.

Since the release of Quentin Tarantino’s revisionist Western thriller The Hateful Eight in 2015, fans had been eagerly awaiting the director’s next project for a torturous four years. Once Upon a Time in Hollywood (2019), his grandiose crime drama delves into the relationship between the Manson family murders and a fictional TV actor (& his stunt double).

Would The Matrix starring Will Smith as Neo and Val Kilmer as Morpheus still be as legendary? Fans will never get to live in this reality as the Wachowskis’ modern-day classic changed the sci-fi and action genres with Keanu Reeves and Laurence Fishburne in those roles. The film was one of the highest-grossing films of the year and redefined the sci-fi genre.
Will Smith has turned down many roles in his career but the Bad Boys star reportedly regrets turning down Neo the most. He mentioned that he could not see the vision of the filmmakers as he had received an awful pitch from the Wachowskis. He mentioned that their terrible pitch for The Matrix involved a very crude explanation for the iconic ‘bullet time’ sequence.

While the conservative genre veterans claim the golden era of Western movies had gone with Clint Eastwood’s classic flicks of the 60s and 70s, we completely disagree with it.
There are several modern genre’s gems, starting from Javier Bardem’s No Country for Old Men and Russell Crowe’s 3:10 to Yuma (both 2007) to Leonardo DiCaprio’s Django Unchained (2012). They all present brand new, yet brutal Western characters.
These include Jeff Bridges’ protagonist in the 2010 movie that can be considered an exceptional movie in every aspect. It both pays homage to the genre’s classics and brings new vision to it.
The film’s plot follows a feisty teenage girl who is trying to find those who are guilty of murdering her father, that’s why she hires a Deputy U.S. Marshal (played by Bridges) to help her. The duo is later joined by a Texas Ranger...

Gemeinsam...

U.S. producer Stacey Sher — whose credits include Quentin Tarantino’s “Pulp Fiction,” “Django Unchained” and “The Hateful Eight” as well as Steven Soderbergh’s “Erin Brockovich,” “Out of Sight” and “Contagion” — will be honored by the Locarno Film Festival with its Raimondo Rezzonico Prize, which celebrates a producer who epitomizes the indie ethos.
“Few producers can claim that their films not only drastically altered the landscape of American independent filmmaking, but also seemed to define the tenor of an entire decade,” the prominent Swiss fest dedicated to international indie cinema said in a statement. It noted that Sher – with her producing partners Danny DeVito and Michael Shamberg – shepherded “such paradigmatic films of the 1990s” as “Pulp Fiction” (1994); “Get Shorty” (1995); “Matilda” (1996); “Gattaca” (1997); and “Out of Sight” (1998).
“Meanwhile her credits this century are no less impressive,” the statement added, “given that they include an expansion and deepening of her collaborations with Tarantino and Steven Soderbergh,...
