Anil Thadani’s AA Films has acquired the Hindi-language distribution rights for four highly anticipated 2024 southern Indian titles.
The films are: Sukumar’s “Pushpa: The Rule – Part 2,” starring Allu Arjun; Shankar’s “Game Changer,” headlined by Ram Charan; Nag Ashwin’s “Kalki 2898 Ad” led by Prabhas; and Koratala Siva’s “Devara,” starring Ntr Jr.
All these films are originally made in the Telugu language but will also be released across India and the world in several Indian languages, including Hindi. They are what is known locally in India as ‘pan India’ films.
In recent decades, India has been a patchwork of local cinema markets, defined partly by geography and language group, and with only limited overlap or transfer between them, except for the Bollywood (Hindi-language) segment which enjoys wider releases. That is now changing.

Sibi Malayil Reveals Reasons for Backing Out Of Kamal Haasan’s Gunaa(Photo Credit –Wikipedia/IMDb)
In a recent interview with the New Indian Express, veteran filmmaker Sibi Malayil opened up about his failed collaboration with Kamal Haasan for his Tamil debut in ‘Gunaa.’ Despite the renewed interest in Kamal’s film, particularly referenced in the recent Malayalam hit ‘Manjummel Boys,’ Sibi shared insights into why he ultimately decided to pass on the opportunity to direct the project.
Sibi discussed their failed collaboration from the 90s, initially planned as a Tamil movie produced by Raj Kamal Films International’s manager Dns. The concept focused on a commercial film about the Indian Peace Keeping Force (Ipkf) in Sri Lanka. Still, Kamal dropped the idea due to its controversial nature, exacerbated by Rajiv Gandhi’s assassination.
Following this, the duo commenced planning for “Gunaa.” However, Sibi Malayil was preoccupied with his film “Bharatham,...

A spectacular dance performance accompanying the song ‘Varaha Roopam’ from Rishab Shetty’s superhit film ‘Kantara’ was the highlight of the anouncement that its sequel would stream on Amazon Prime Video after its theatrical run.
‘Varaha Roopam’, although it was caught up in a legal battle with the Kerala-based band Thaikkudam Bridge, enjoyed as much success as the film and topped the charts owing to its rooted fragrance.
A special video from the sequel’s eventual streaming announcement was also played at Prime Video’s slate announcement event, Prime Video Presents, in Mumbai on Tuesday.
The video shows a glimpse of what’s about to unfold in the film’s sequel. It presents the actor-director Rishab Shetty in a beefed-up avatar for the film, leaving viewers on a cliff-hanger.

Bollywood A-list star Rani Mukerji was in refreshingly candid form at Mumbai’s Ficci Frames media industry conference, proffering frank opinions on the Indian theatrical business.
The usual Hindi-language domination of the all-India box office was reversed for a period in 2021-22, when films from the south of India, including “Rrr,” “Kantara,” “Ponniyin Selvan” and “Vikram” dominated, and the northern counterparts from’ Bollywood’ struggled to become hits. Since then, the north-south competition has evolved again.
In 2023, there were only three south Indian films in the box office top 10, “Salaar,” “Jailer” and “Leo,” at numbers four, six and seven, respectively. However, Hindi-language films made by south Indian filmmakers – “Jawan” in pole position and “Animal” in third – performed exceedingly well.
“They listen to what the audiences want,” Mukerji said. “When cinema is evolving and everybody’s trying to cater to a diverse audience, sometimes you lose touch with the popular or the...

HanuMan Box Office Collection Day 4 Vs Kantara Vs Pushpa – Daywise Comparison (Photo Credit – IMDb)
Teja Sajja’s HanuMan has been making all the right kind of noises at the box office. The superhero film that mixes the Indian epic Ramayana with a modern-day tale is a perfect blend of Indian scriptures mixed with today’s style of filmmaking. The film is churning out great numbers at the Hindi box office as well.
While in South India, it is giving tough competition to Mahesh Babu’s Guntur Kaaram; in North India, Katrina Kaif & Vijay Sethupathi‘s Merry Christmas is facing a tough time because of the superhero film.
HanuMan was very low on buzz before its release, but after a terrific word of mouth, the film has picked up a brilliant pace at the box office and is being loved by all. In fact, comparing the superhero film to previously released...

HanuMan Box Office Collection Day 4 (Hindi): Teja Sajja’s Superhero Film Keeps Growing ( Photo Credit – IMDb )
In just four days, HanuMan (Hindi) has crossed the entire first-week collections of Kantara (Hindi). The Rishab Shetty starrer accumulated 15 crore in its first week, and now the Teja Sajja film already stands at 16.17 crore with three more days remaining in the week.
The comparison comes in because both are dubbed films and have religious/mythological elements in them while being set in today’s times. The manner in which the Prasanth Verma film had trended over the weekend was a given that Monday collections would be at least at par with Friday if not more than that.
However, the film has done far better than that, with the collections coming close to Saturday numbers, in fact. The film brought in 4.05 crore on Saturday, and now, on Monday too, the collections are really good at 3.80 crore.

Filmmakers In 2024 Should Aim Box Office Myths Broken By Bollywood Films In 2023 ( Photo Credit – IMDb )
The year 2023 has been phenomenal for Bollywood films, which performed like beasts at the box office. In fact, the numbers have been so great that hopes for Box Office 2024 are higher, better, and bigger, despite five superstars marking their absence this year.
In 2024, while Shah Rukh Khan created hysteria with his action image, Ranbir Kapoor followed the violent path, and Sunny Deol somewhere balanced between action and violence. Along with their films, they together put up 2000+ crore box office collections with their films.

Persian film ‘Endless Borders’ by Abbas Amini has bagged the Golden Peacock for Best Film at the 54th International Film Festival of India (Iffi) that concluded here on Tuesday. An emotionally charged narrative set against the backdrop of an Iranian teacher’s odyssey amid the turmoil ignited by the rise of the Taliban in Afghanistan, the film intricately delves into the complexities of prejudice, moral dilemmas, and forbidden love.
The jury praised the film’s ability to transcend physical and emotional borders, lauding director Abbas Amini’s courageous storytelling.
In a citation, the jury said, “The film is about how complicated physical borders might be yet nothing can be more complicated than the emotional and moral borders that you impose upon yourself. Film festivals, after all, are about crossing borders and in the case of this film, the director has crossed political borders at the cost of his own freedom.
