James Garner, interviewed while working on "One Special Night," said of Julie Andrews, "Anybody that's ever been around Julie for ten minutes falls in love with her."
The director, Roger Young, talked behind the scenes about working with Julie Andrews and James Garner on the TV movie, "One Special Night." He said, "There is no work with the stars - they're too good. They're wonderful people. They're very professional... prepared. The crew loves 'em, I love 'em, they're the best. I mean, you know, they're the best. It's not work - it's fun."
Near the end of the film, a character mentions that Dr. Howard (Julie Andrews) used to give out Hershey bars on Halloween. Then another character calls her "the Hershey lady". Hershey bars are a running joke in the first film that Garner and Andrews made together, The Americanization of Emily, in 1964. The last line of that film is "I'll settle for a Hershey bar" (Emily).
The director of "One Special Night," Roger Young, in an interview during the filming of the movie, talked about the kissing scenes between Julie Andrews and James Garner. Young says, "We had a kissing scene yesterday, and he (Garner) thinks with all the retakes and different angles that they've had in all their pictures, they probably have kissed about 500 times."
Neither Julie Andrews nor James Garner said they knew about "their chemistry," but they both said they enjoyed tremendously working with one another.
