Korean Drama or K-Drama has been growing in popularity over the last few years. As usual, regional television shows generally hit their peak within the country that it’s produced in. For instance, back in the 1960s and 1970s, K-Drama was consumed almost exclusively in Korea.
Eventually, Korean-based projects made their way across the world following the end of the military rule in South Korea. Obviously, there would have been much more to watch during that time than just Death Row Prisoner (1956).

Netflix’s My Demon is the talk of the town this winter season. The fantasy drama stars two huge names, Song Kang and Kim Yoo-Jung, in the leading roles of a 200-year-old demon and the human he falls in love with. From expensive luxury outfits to lavish localities and the visuals of the leading couple, the show screams “popular schoolkid.” Seeing as the show is the season’s biggest trend, fans are waiting with bated breath for the next episode. Unfortunately, the K-drama has been postponed by a week by Sbs as the network plans on airing the year-end drama award show, “2023 Sbs Drama Awards,” this weekend. Of course, this has left fans devastated, as it’s already a struggle waiting for weekly episodes. Now we meet our favorite demon and his wife in the new year on the 5th and 6th of January.

My Demon is turning out to be quite funny and has some surprisingly real moments in its absurd plot. That is a very common K-drama trait as it is, but this show is looking to be more interesting than the description made it out to be. Additionally, we all love a good old-fashioned enemies-to-lovers K-drama with a simple plot and lots of swoon-worthy moments (King the Land being the biggest example of the year). It doesn’t hurt that the show doesn’t hesitate to have entire scenes of just Song Kang and Kim You-Jung’s perfect faces, and the fashion is, as always, impeccable. It’s nice to see a rich female lead for once (I’m glad that’s changing). Episode 1 of My Demon ended with Gu-Won and Do-Hee drowning but later waking up on a beach somewhere. That’s when Gu-Won realizes the cross on his hand is now on Do-Hee’s,...

Netflix has its A-game on when it comes to Korean dramas, as it releases a new fantastic show, or at least, an addicting one, on a weekly basis. Recently, we’ve had some gems like Doona, Castaway Diva, and A Time Called You that have been loved by audiences and critics alike. Now, it’s finally time for the highly anticipated Song Kang and Kim You-Jung-starring K-drama My Demon to have us on our knees begging for mercy. Alright, this is a very unserious statement, but everyone’s just so excited to be taken in by this girlboss-demon combination that we can’t help but imagine it’s going to be a super hit even if it manages to bring nothing new to the table. People are already screaming about the “face cards” these two very attractive actors are bringing to the show, which is reason enough to give it a go.
