Ride the Black Chariot: A Hitchcockian Horror of Vengeance and Retribution
Hex Studios is excited to announce Black Chariot, an intense and deeply disturbing supernatural horror directed by Lawrie Brewster, inspired by the macabre genius of Alfred Hitchcock. Director Lawrie Brewster shared, “My childhood was spent haunted and mesmerized by the romantic and seductive veil Hitchcock cast over me. It shaped my vision of horror, sensuality, and my understanding of fear and obsession. I am thrilled to finally produce a horror film that combines my love for the genre with inspirations drawn from his incomparable genius. Creating a period film and a love letter to that era, in a portrayal of horror that is as hauntingly beautiful as it is terrifying,...

Stars: Amber Doig-Thorne, Ayvianna Snow, Alice Stevenson, Dani Thompson, Michael Fausti, Roe Haven, Laurence R. Harvey | Written and Directed by Michael Fausti
Burnt Flowers, the new film from writer/director Michael Fausti, begins with a series of scenes swiftly moving back and forth between London’s Rose Bar in 1968, Islington in 1983 and the Islington Police Station in 1992.
The last location is where Detective Franc Alban has a visitor, Alice Kyteller. She’s there to report a missing person, her husband Austin whom she last saw eight years ago in a brothel. Why has she waited so long to report him missing? “I thought he might come back”. She can’t offer any information and hasn’t so much as asked his friends about him, but she is sure that she and Detective Alban have met before.
If all of this sounds strange, you haven’t seen anything yet. The director...

UK indie horror icon Ayvianna Snow returns to the screen with three new films for the first quarter 2024.
Cult director Michael Fausti’s much anticipated second feature film, Burnt Flowers (premieres January 2024), sees Ayvianna Snow join fellow horror luminaries Dani Thompson and Laurence R. Harvey in this haunting and surreal Horror-Noir from one of the UK’s most original horror directors.
Burnt Flowers focuses upon a mysterious femme fatale, Alice Kyteller (Ayvianna Snow), who approaches Detective Francis Alban (Amber Doig-Thorne) to search for her missing husband. The detective’s search leads her to a 1960s serial killer, who was never caught, a violent gangster and ultimately… herself.
The film stars Ayvianna Snow in a commanding central performance in a role that recalls the shape-shifting femme fatales of classic film noir. Snow’s portrayal of Alice Kyteller leads the audience into the dark past of the 1960s criminal underworld and an obsessive,...

The magic of cinema. The lights dim, the screen illuminates, and we’re transported to another world. But what happens when that world contains… another world? Horror has long been a genre that loves to play with its audience, and nothing says “I see you” quite like a movie-within-a-movie. It’s like a Russian doll of terror, layers of scares unfolding one after another… and who doesn’t love a good nesting nightmare?
Let’s dive into the meta-madness of horror films that give us a double dose of dread, with the movie-within-a-movie trope!
Universal 10. Halloween III: Season of the Witch (1982) Movie-Within-a-Movie: Halloween (1978)
Dr. Daniel Challis (Tom Atkins) stumbles upon a sinister plot by the Silver Shamrock mask company to harness Stonehenge’s mystical powers and harm children on Halloween night. Amidst this chaos, a TV commercial advertises the original Halloween movie, suggesting a universe where Michael Myers’ terror is mere fiction.

A few months ago, while covering Hex Studios’ fantasy film throwback The Slave and the Sorcerer, we also mentioned that Hex was also working to “build a new British horror and fantasy studio that’s inspired by the likes of Cannon, Hammer, and Aip”. Hex co-founder Lawrie Brewster is set to be the president of the revived Amicus… and their first project will be exactly the sort of movie Amicus is best remembered for: a horror portmanteau (or anthology) film called In the Grip of Terror!

When Tom Six's horror freakout "The Human Centipede (First Sequence)" was released in 2009, it was met with much disgust and ballyhoo. The poster boasted that the film was "100 medically accurate," something that no movie poster should ever boast.
The premise was wild and gross and repelled prudes while attracting seekers of the extreme. A mad scientist named Dr. Josef Heiter (Dieter Laser) -- clearly inspired by Josef Mengele -- kidnaps three hapless tourists and announces his dark plan while they are strapped to gurneys in his basement. Dr. Heiter intends to surgically connect the three people via their alimentary canals. He will connect one person's face to the previous person's anus, and remove tendons in their knees, forcing them to crawl. In so doing, he will create a human centipede. There is no stated reason for his experiment.

For We Are Many is a film from the Scottish-based Hex Studios, a smorgasbord of demonic horror from thirteen different genre directors that stars some familiar faces from horror movies of the past too. An anthology film, we see a selection of tales about all kinds of demons, in a fun, dark and creepy portmanteau. Twenty years, in terms of horror films, doesn’t sound all that long. Yet it adds up to a generation, and the list below reflects that. It’s a catalog of the cinematic fears and obsessions that define an era. The list is also destined to start a few fights. So feel free to object, and to point out the dozens of terrific films I left out.

Attack of the Adult Babies. What a title! It’s enough on its own to make me want to watch it but the movie has plenty more to offer than the crazy-sounding title. Director Dominic Brunt is best known to many as Paddy in U.K. soap Emmerdale but genre fans should know him better for his directorial work. His first movie was the excellent, gritty, slow burn zombie film Before Dawn and he followed it up with the sometimes-hard-to-watch but great revenge thriller Bait. With his third feature he has chose something very very different…

Dead Love is new unorthodox love story from writer and director Chris Gallagher, which has been selected to play at the Horror-on-Sea Film Festival on Friday 19th January. I got chance to ask Chris a few questions about making the film, working with Lloyd Kaufman and the seminal casting of Emily Booth whilst writing the script.
What can we expect from the film Dead Love?
Talking tables, cannibals, exploding hearts, an awesome soundtrack and many scenes of murder-sex (a term the actors coined on set). It’s essentially a love story concerning a man named Allan, a woman called Anne and a sentient piece of furniture! We’ve got all bases covered – if you want gore, we have scenes where some cast & crew had to watch through their hands. There’s a bit of comedy (hopefully) and underpinning that is the tale of two mismatched people finding love in an unlikely situation.

Premiering at FrightFest in London on the 28th August, Teddy Bears Picnic is a proof of concept horror short from Tom Hodge – aka The Dude Designs – the poster artist behind artwork for films such Hobo with A Shotgun (2011), The Innkeepers (2011), The Heat (2013), WolfCop (2014), The Other Side of The Door (2016), and They Live.
Written, produced, directed and financed by Hodge, the short film stars Abby Miller (Justified, Aquarius & The Sinner TV series), Laurence R Harvey (Human Centipede 2+3, ABCs of Death 2 & The Editor) and Lorelei Winterfrost; and is inspired by the classic 1907 melody of the same name… only this time re-envisioned as a nightmarish fable that twists the concept of childhood innocence!
Says Hodge:
I love horror as a genre for its pure unabashed creativity. It gives you a wider scope to create unique characters and settings. What are nightmares if not essentially creative? I particularly loved the creativity of high...

With twenty-six films over three days, including ten World, four European and seven UK premieres, Horror Channel FrightFest’s short film showcase unleashes this year’s eclectic mix of the bold, brave, bloody and barmy with films programmed to entertain, frighten, enlighten and simply amaze.
From the press release:
There are twelve films from the United Kingdom, forming the centerpiece of this year’s line-up. These include James Moran’s Blood Shed, starring Shaun Dooley and Sally Phillips, where a man’s love of his garden shed takes a rather murderous turn. In Judgement, Neil Maskell stars as a single man looking for love in all the wrong places and Laurence R. Harvey shines as a mutated children’s’ toy in Teddy Bear’S Picnic. Then there’s Katie Bonham’s Mab, about a girl who turns to witchcraft to teach someone a lesson.

In a world where there are a lot of indie filmmakers doing it wrong, it's refreshing when it's done right.
Now, I'm not talking about film quality or tired stories etc. I'm talking about old fashioned "We actually give a shit about our fans and want them to know." It's about the little things.
Running a horror website for over seven years in the red with no steady income stream generated by the site can get quite discouraging. What makes it worse is when filmmakers and producers feel they are gracing you with their film and doing you a favor by "letting you" watch their movie's, forgetting that the professional rout is to offer a screener for review consideration.
Here at MoreHorror we try to get to as many screeners as we can, but sometimes it just doesn't happen. Sometimes, there's no real incentive, just a sense of expectation,...

A few months ago, we premiered the trailer for Frankenstein Created Bikers, which had a ton of hits from fans of the upcoming film. Well, I've finally seen it, and I've got to admit that it's even more insane than the trailer lets on. Shot on 35mm after a successful Kickstarter campaign, Frankenstein is a love letter to exploitation films carved into a bullet --- and sent skyrocketing into the air after several beers on the Fourth of July at a biker rally. This exploitation-sci-fi-cult-horror film extravaganza was directed by James Bickert (it's a sequel of sorts to his flick Dear God No!) and stars Tristan Risk, Ellie Church, Jett Bryant, Laurence R. Harvey, and a cast of others. The above actors are the best of the bunch in...

Uli Lommel’s Boogeyman, released in 1980, should have slipped under the radar of many a horror fan and it would have – had it not become entangled with the Video Nasties scare here in the UK in the early 80s. It was that “promotion” which gave Lommel’s film more notoriety than it undoubtedly should. So much so that Lommel’s film spawned Two sequels – Revenge of the Boogeyman in 1983 and Return of the Boogeyman in 1994 (well, if you can call them sequels – they reuse way too much footage to be original films).
Now, 26 years after the first film was released, Uli Lommel returns to the boogeyman well for Boogeyman Resurrection, purported to be a remake of the original film; and he has released the first trailer – which again re-uses old Boogeyman footage!!
The only positives I can see this time round is in Lommel’s choice of cast: Tristan Risk...

The creative team of Astron 6 has completed The Editor. This film had its premiere in 2014, at the Toronto Int. Film Festival. Now, this giallo-inspired thriller is coming to several Canadian theatres, on Sept. 18th. This release will be followed up by another as The Editor releases on home entertainment formats, Oct. 6th. The film is a send-up starring Paz de la Huerta (Boardwalk Empire), Samantha Hill (Bad Meat), Laurence R. Harvey (The ABCs of Death 2), Adam Brooks (Manborg), Matthew Kennedy, Conor Sweeney, Tristan Risk and Udo Kier. Hopefully, actress Paz's appearance in this film has not ruined her career, forever. And now, fans can preview the film's horrifying launch here. The story follows an almost out-of-work editor. It is suspected that his desperation has led to murder. But, only Rey (Adam Brooks) believes in his innocence. Now, Rey must prove to others that he is not behind a series of murders,...

Recent films like Berberian Sound Studio and The Strange Color Of Your Body's Tears have paid homage to giallo and the '70s Italian horror genre, in a way creating a modern resurgence. Now the Canadian collective known as Astron-6 have thrown their hat in the ring with a satiric approach. Adam Brooks and Matthew Kennedy lovingly pay tribute to the genre and cleverly poke fun at everything from Suspiria and The Beyond to the more obscure films from that era. There's great attention to detail in everything from the production design and lighting, to the overdubbed dialogue and eerie synth score, and they even got Claudio Simonetti from Goblin to contribute to the main theme.
Adam Brooks instills great comedic sensibility into his character, Rey Ciso. Once the greatest editor in the world until horrific circumstances left him with wooden fingers on his right hand, Rey now finds himself cutting sleazy bottom-of-the-barrel slasher pictures.

The wait is finally over ladies and gentlemen! One of this years most anticipated horror films is finally here! Yep, Tom Six (I Love Dries) has finally unleashed The Human Centipede 3: Final Sequence upon the world. When I watched parts 1 & 2 upon initial release, I was rather underwhelmed, but upon revisiting the films prior to the third and final chapter in the trilogy, I found myself enjoying the films for what they are. I won’t go in to detail because if you’re reading this review, you have already seen them. Needless to say, the films were brutal with an original concept that made Dieter Laser (John Gleuckstadt) amd Laurence R. Harvey (The Editor) household names and horror icons.

I have a terrible suspicion that filmmaker Tom Six would be delighted to learn that someone in the real world had tried to create a human centipede. I’m “biast” (pro): nothing
I’m “biast” (con): despise this series
(what is this about? see my critic’s minifesto)
I’m not sure I’ve ever endured such ludicrous evidence of a filmmaker more in love with himself and his work than Dutch writer and director Tom Six displays in The Human Centipede III (Final Sequence). This is now the second film he has made praising the expression of his own demented imagination in The Human Centipede (First Sequence) as something so astonishing and inventive as to be the stuff that drives madmen to imitate it. The Human Centipede II (Full Sequence) — which I have seen but not reviewed, it is so revolting and utterly without the smallest iota...

There’re few things more exciting than attending your first movie premiere, especially when it’s a movie you have been greatly anticipating. After seeing and immediately becoming a fan of both of Tom Six’s previous Centipede movies, I was more than curious to see what was coming next. Unfortunately I walked out of the theater thoroughly disappointed.
Long plot summary short, the film opens at George W. Bush prison, where slowly-losing-his-mind prison warden Bill Boss (Dieter Laser) and his accountant, Dwight Butler (Laurence R. Harvey), are trying to not only quell the multitude of prison riots and violence, but also find a way to stop the prison system from hemorrhaging money. Both these factors have convinced Governor Hughes (Eric Roberts) to fire them, but he gives the duo two weeks to turn things around. Eventually, Butler pleads with Boss to consider his idea to introduce the human centipede into the prison system.

100% Politically incorrect. 100% Medically accurate, so claims Tom Six. 100% complete garbage. Harsh? Not really.
I am not going to step onto a soap box and preach to you about how some films have gone too far. Please, go further. I am not going to rant about how certain things should never be portrayed on film. Please, push the envelope and break boundaries. I will not call for censorship and restraint in exercising free speech. Please, by all means, shock and disgust us till the cows come home. However, what I will do, is to persistently and relentlessly call things as I see them.
This movie is garbage. Not because its vulgar or offensive, but because its a failure. I have seen the entire trilogy now, and while in all honesty I can admit that I am no big fan of the franchise as a whole, my disdain reaches its monumental peak...

The Human Centipede III (Final Sequence) is an empty, self-gratifying, wannabe exploitation flick that’s crafted by a monkey who started by flinging poo at a wall with artistic intent – yes, The Human Centipede (First Sequence) has value – yet has now devolved into a smut-peddling attention whore who keeps flinging poo just to stay relevant. I wish I could stop my review of Tom Six’s worst movie to date right there, but I cannot – because that would be doing all of you a disservice (and because I have a minimum wordcount requirement). Six’s franchise has turned from a cheeky attempt to push unimaginable boundaries into a “for shocks only” nightmare that prays college film students will dare one another to sit through one last ass-to-mouth ensemble, cringing with every life-giving passage of waste. Unfortunately, Six’s third film is a dare with no winners, whether or not you...

A descent into a dank, rank hole of meta depravity (and doo-doo), The Human Centipede 3 (Final Sequence) follows in its 2011 predecessor's footsteps by turning inward on itself. Inspired by the first two movies, an American prison warden and his trusty sidekick (Dieter Laser and Laurence R. Harvey, the respective stars of those earlier efforts) decide that the best way to cope with out-of-control operating costs is to fashion an enormous ass-to-mouth human centipede out of inmates. Before getting to that hideousness, however, the film first sees fit to subject its audience to Laser eating fried clitorises (imported from Africa!), castrating a prisoner and consuming his testicles, forcing his secretary (Bree Olson) to swallow after imposed oral sex, and spitting an...

There's little new that can be said about Tom Six's gross-out trilogy, particularly as its third and (supposedly) final chapter, The Human Centipede 3 (Final Sequence), crawls onto VOD later this month. For better or for worse, however, the writer/director is not holding his cards close to his vest. The newest trailer for the third installment shows, if anything beyond violent mayhem, he's goes full-out medieval on his once "medically accurate" series. This new trailer, which showcases returning stars Laurence R. Harvey and a now-bald Dieter Laser, has our main character proudly announce he's "gonna bring back medieval torture practices," as he gears up to spawn a 500-person long human centipede from a line-up of convicted felons. They say it'll stop prison torture, and end violence inside the cells and ... yada, yada, yada. You get the idea. Along the way, Laser sticks his head in a bucket and screams inside it.

The Human Centipede 3 (Final Sequence) horrific new trailer is here. Mind you, it’s probably not a good idea to watch this one at work.
Directed & Written by Tom Six, the movie stars Dieter Laser, Laurence R. Harvey, Eric Roberts, & Bree Olson
Bully prison warden Bill Boss (The Human Centipede Part I’s Dieter Laser) has a lot of problems; prison riots, medical costs, staff turnover, but foremost he is unable to get the respect he thinks he deserves from his inmates and the state Governor (Eric Roberts). He constantly fails in experimenting with different ideas for the ideal punishment to get the inmates in line, which drives him completely insane.
Under threats of termination by the Governor, his loyal right hand man Dwight (The Human Centipede Part II’ s Laurence R Harvey) comes up with a brilliant idea. An idea based on the notorious Human Centipede movies, that will...

"Things will have to change fast. I think I have a solution." The "solution" in Tom Six's third entry to his extreme body horror franchise is the largest attempted human centipede in history. The prison-set experiment and the slipping sanity of the warden enforcing it are both teased in the new full-length trailer for The Human Centipede 3 (Final Sequence).
On May 22nd, IFC Midnight will unleash The Human Centipede 3 (Final Sequence) at the Arena Cinema in Los Angeles and will also distribute the film theatrically in New York. That same day, Six's third Centipede film will also be available to watch from the comfort of your couch on VOD and digital streaming services.

The sequel that nobody asked for, "Human Centipede 3 (Final Sequence)," has a new trailer, and it's even weirder and grosser than you can possibly imagine.
But we have to give a little credit to writer/director Tom Six, who's come up with a rather clever take on the third film in this franchise. Dieter Laser plays the warden of a violent, chaotic prison that faces constant riots, high medical costs, and danger to its guards. His right-hand man (Laurence R. Harvey) comes up with a plan to control the prisoners and bring about order - a plan he hatched after watching the first two "Human Centipede" movies.
Thus, he brings in Six, who plays himself - yes, himself! - to consult and advise on assembling a 500-person human centipede. It's all very meta and self-referential, which adds another layer of weirdness on top of an already strange concept.
Anyway, if...
