Andreas Escher is a writer and graphic artist known for Katakis (1988), Turrican II: The Final Fight (1991) and X-Out (1990).
He originally trained as an office machine mechanic but discovered he had a talent for creating graphics on his Commodore 64. In 1988 Manfred Trenz presented him with an opportunity to work at Rainbow Art. This was a great opportunity for him because they were childhood friends who had a fondness for shoot-'em-up games such as R-Type. Katakis for the C64 was an idea that bloomed from their passion for shoot-'em-up style games. As time passed, he was given the responsibility to assist with the conception and creation of the graphics for Turrican 2 on the C64. Turrican 2 was such a huge success on the C64 that he eventually made the graphical transfer from the C64 to the Amiga.
In late 1992 to 1995 he worked as a freelancer for Factor 5, during his time there he worked on various projects including Konami's ISS Deluxe MegaDrive, Animanicas and Probotector 2 for the Gameboy. Over time, he got the opportunity to work for Lucas Arts on Rebel Assault 2 for the PS1 and Indiana Jones' Greatest Adventures for MegaDrive, but this last game was never released.
In 2008, his career took a more stable turn, and he began working for the gambling industry as a Senior Technical Artist.
