With Lennie James bowing out of Fear the Walking Dead, it seems the series is being handed back to many of its original stars.
AMC went public with the official trailer for the back half of Fear the Walking Dead Season 8 on Friday during a Twd universe San Diego Comic-Con panel.
"Now that Shrike (Maya Eshet) and her influence are gone, Madison (Kim Dickens) sets sights on transforming Padre into the safe haven the old Stadium was meant to be," the logline teases.

Fear the Walking Dead Season 8 Episode 6 wrapped with several significant developments that will shake up the dynamics as we head into these final episodes.

After spending the last three episodes sending the narrative in circles, Fear the Walking Dead Season 8 Episode 6 quite literally turned the show on its head, preparing us for a very different final six episodes.
In recent years, cast departures haven't been as secretive in Twd Universe, and it's shocking that Morgan's arc is wrapped up, seemingly for good, by the end of "All I See is Red."
Morgan has spoken countless times about seeing red after the deaths of his wife and son, and truthfully, I didn't think the showrunners of Fear the Walking Dead could craft a compelling farewell for such an iconic character.
Thankfully, Morgan reached a state of resolution with his past actions and is ready to embrace a new chapter that involves some of his old friends.
This message is for Rick Grimes. It's Morgan Jones. Man, I'm gonna come and look for you, whether you're at Alexandria or not.

Syfy has canceled George R. R. Martin’s “Nightflyers” after one season, TheWrap has learned.
The news comes just a few months after the Syfy drama’s 10-episode first season was rolled out across consecutive nights in December. The NBCUniversal-owned cable network also made the full season available across all of its streaming platforms the night of the premiere.
An adaptation of a novella written by Martin, which was adapted previously into a 1987 film of the same name, “Nightflyers” centered on eight scientists and a telepath who embark on a quest to make contact with alien life.

It’s one and done for Nightflyers: Syfy has cancelled the space-set horror drama, which was based on the novella by Game of Thrones author George R.R. Martin. Per our sister site Deadline, the culprit was low ratings.
Set in the year 2093, the series followed eight maverick scientists and a powerful telepath who embark on an expedition to the edge of our solar system aboard the Nightflyer, in the hope of making contact with alien life. But when terrifying and violent events begin to take place, they start to question each other — and surviving the journey proves harder than anyone thought.

Syfy has opted not to renew Nightflyers for a second season. A rep for the network confirmed to Deadline that Syfy would not be picking up additional episodes of the high-profile space horror drama based on the novella by George R.R. Martin.
Nighflyers, which went straight-to-series after Netflix came on board as co-producer/international distributor alongside Ucp, had a multi-platform rollout in December, with all 10 episodes debuting across all Syfy platforms timed to the beginning of the linear telecast.
The series’ linear ratings were pretty modest despite stunts that included telecasts with limited commercial interruption across all platforms and weekend marathons giving fans an additional opportunity to catch up on the series.
Nightflyers had been conceived as an ongoing series but I hear that following its freshman season run, Syfy brass concluded that it was better off as a one-off limited series. The options on the cast were let to expire,...

The sober and gripping “Dead Women Walking” focuses on the final days of a series of female inmates facing the death sentence. Divided into nine chapters, each inching its way inexorably closer to the moment of execution, the drama turns the fragmentation of its approach to a powerful advantage. Not only do the individual stories — hard, jagged and persuasive — become tiles in a more complex mosaic, taken together they also give a peculiar experience of time that judders and halts, elongates and foreshortens. It’s impossible for most of us to say if this is an accurate representation of temporal reality for these characters, but it makes even those of us who are convinced we understand the issues around capital punishment consider it in a stark new light. This is not a film about the death penalty; it’s a film about the systems and practices we collectively call Death Row.

And so the calendar closes on yet another TV year. As critics start to assemble year-end best lists and look forward to what the next 12 months might have in store, there’s still a final flurry of new original programming to sift through before 2018 fades away.
Per usual, these are spread out across broadcast, cable, and subscription services, this time with an extra peppering of original films debuting on TV airtime. With plenty of other options to juggle as 2018 closes, allow this one final collection to cap off the bunch.
(We do this roundup of new shows pretty much every month — if you missed any of those previous picks, here are some notable TV premieres from February, March, April, May, June, July, August, October, November, and our giant fall preview.)

“Nightflyers” begins with a compelling sequence taken from late in its story’s action, in which Dr. Agatha Matheson (Gretchen Mol) is fighting for her life on a space journey gone horribly wrong. She’s fleeing an assailant who seems compelled by something unearthly, and goes on to send a warning to whomever out there is listening not to bring her ship back to Earth but to leave it where it lies, a vessel too compromised to breach our familiar atmosphere. She goes on, within the show’s first five minutes, to kill herself.
It’s a striking opening to a show that doesn’t quite earn it. “Nightflyers,” based on the pre-Westeros writing of George R. R. Martin, is a fine addition to an onscreen canon that’s already well-stuffed — that of the space horror story. Martin, is a fine addition to an onscreen canon that’s already well-stuffed — that of the space horror story. But it flails when it comes to doing anything new with a metaphor that’s been worn thin,...

Not that far into “Nightflyers,” Syfy’s bleak adaptation of George Rr Martin’s bleak 1980 sci-fi novella, a large mechanical spider starts shooting up the crew with searing red laser beams. You see, the technology onboard the eponymous spaceship, the Nightflyer, is malfunctioning. It malfunctions a lot, and no one knows why. Well, someone might know, but despite an “accident” involving glass that makes John McClane’s barefoot jog look pleasant and creepy ghosts trolling passengers in the hallways, well, no one’s saying what’s up.
The mysterious destructive force plaguing the characters also ends up leveling the series. So much information is held back in Jeff Buhler’s 10-episode first season, and so many strange things keep happening (with unreasonably calm reactions from the people onboard), that “Nightflyers” quickly pivots from an intriguing foray into hard sci-fi to a confounding slog through the most boring blackness of space.

The Syfy Channel has shared the first five minutes of George R.R. Martin’s upcoming sci-fi series Nightflyers. It’s actually a pretty solid and intense opening scene that upped my excitement about seeing the series.
The clip begins with a spaceship floating through space with all kinds of debris. Dr. Agatha Matheson (Gretchen Mol) is in the ship and in a panic as she reactivates the gravitational pull. As she starts to transmit a message that the Nightflyer ship has sustained serious damage, and the crew has suffered multiple fatalities, a crazed-looking crew member walks in whistling with a axe. Things then take a twisted and unexpected turn.

“Our mission was clear. Make contact. Bring back solutions for our dying planet.”
Obviously, things take a nightmarish turn on this mission! The Syfy Channel has released new trailer for their upcoming sci-fi series Nightflyers, which comes from the mind of George R.R. Martin. This trailer teases the horrors that await.
Nightflyers is based on the novella written by Martin, that tells the story of "eight maverick scientists and a powerful telepath who embark on an expedition to the edge of our solar system in the hopes of contacting alien life. The first trailer has arrived for Nightflyers fresh out of Sdcc, and holy shit guys, it looks pretty good. I know, I know, I should've expected it, but I think we all had our reservations about George R.R. Martin's follow up heading to Syfy. Especially when the movie adaptation is as bad as it is. Check out the intense trailer below, and get ready for the show's premiere this fall.

It's only the first official day of San Diego Comic Con but we already have some significant science fiction to tide us over for fall.
In addition to Doctor Who and Origin, we can now add George R.R. Martin's Nightflyers to the list.
These people are going to have to fight harder to stay alive than they've ever fought for anything.
In 2093, in hopes of making contact with a mysterious alien life at the edge of our solar system, a group of maverick scientists and a powerful telepath embark on an expedition aboard The Nightflyer.

Syfy dropped a never-before-seen trailer during the “Nightflyers” panel at Comic-Con on Thursday.
The series, which is billed as a horror-thriller set in 2093, is the brainchild of “Game of Thrones” mastermind George R. R. Martin, who serves as executive producer on the project.
The trailer follows a group of eight scientists on the “Nightflyer” spaceship. Although they set out with an admirable goal of saving humanity from a dying world, things very quickly take a turn.
A suspicious “malfunction” takes three of the men down and leaves the others standing to their suspicions about what is really going on. “There is something wrong with this ship” is a sentiment that echoes ominously over images of characters succumbing, in varying degrees, to the ship’s manipulations.
And then a warning comes: “Do not bring the Nightflyer back to Earth.”
Unable to disembark the ship, the question is whether the crew can...

The SyFy Channel is starting to promote a couple of its big upcoming shows. One is called Deadly Class, which comes from the director of Avengers: Infinity War. Deadly Class is based on the Image Comics property created by Rick Remender and Wes Craig. This is the synopsis that was released for it.
The series is set in a dark, comic book world against the backdrop of late 1980s counter culture. It follows a homeless teen recruited into a storied elite private school where the world’s top crime families send their next generations. Maintaining his moral code while surviving a ruthless curriculum, vicious social cliques, and his own adolescent uncertainties soon proves to be vital.

A breakthrough performance by a talented young actress is always a sight to behold. Last year at the Tribeca Film Festival, I saw Zoey Deutch own the screen in Flower. This independent picture has stayed with me for almost 12 full months, mainly due to Deutch’s captivating turn. She is riveting, to the point where I’m just as eager to fete her performance today as I was in the moments after that Tribeca screening ended last April. That’s the mark of a talented actress, and Deutch is certainly one. In fact, within the next few years, I’m sure I’ll be writing about her as an A-lister and potentially even an award winner. The movie is an indie black comedy/coming of age story. Erica (Deutch) is a troublemaking teen who, when we first meet her, is blackmailing a small-town cop after performing a sexual act on him.

This follows up the first red band teaser trailer. Flower stars the awesome Zoey Deutch as a young rebellious teen who decides to act out and band with her two friends to expose the kinky secrets of sexy high-school teacher Will, played by Adam Scott. Things get wacky and weird. The film's full cast includes Kathryn Hahn, Joey Morgan, Tim Heidecker, Dylan Gelula, Maya Eshet, plus Eric Edelstein. This looks hilarious, there's a few times I actually laughed out loud watching this trailer. Really looking forward to seeing this! Damn, where did it come from? Have fun. Here's the second official trailer for Max Winkler's Flower, direct from The Orchard's YouTube: You can still watch the red band teaser + see the poster for Flower here,...
