Myra Paci grew up in Rome, Italy and Boston, MA. She graduated with a
B.A. in History from Yale University and received an M.F.A. in
Film/Television Production from N.Y.U. Tisch School of the Arts. Her
short films Butch Patrol and Transeltown played widely on the
Lesbian/Gay International Film Festival circuit. Her N.Y.U. Thesis
film, XXXtasy: Two Days in the Life of a Saint, landed her a job at New
York City advertising agency, Weiss Whitten Stagliano, where she shot
and directed spots, a cable show, and marketing videos for such clients
as Atlantic Records, Aer Lingus, and Cole Haan. Her feature screenplay,
Searching for Paradise, was awarded the Sundance Institute's
Screenwriting and Directing Fellowships. She went on to direct the film
which starred Chris Noth, Susan May Pratt, Jeremy Davies, Michele
Placido, Laila Robins, Mary Louise Wilson, Josef Sommer, and John
Pierson, with cinematography by Teodoro Maniaci, score by Carter
Burwell, and production by Ruth Charny, Janet Grillo, and Jonathan
Shoemaker.
In 2000, she moved with her husband and children to Berkeley, CA and started video production company, Casa Madre Films, with Liz McBee and later started SLAP Agency, a marketing and video production company, with Michael Furlong.
