In his new film “No Sudden Move,” Don Cheadle plays a gangster set up by his employer and roped into a larger scheme — but he’s not going to just go along for the ride.
“Think you’re the only one who can make a move? I can make a move too,” Cheadle says in the trailer. “I’ma get what’s mine.”
Steven Soderbergh directs “No Sudden Move,” which is set in 1954 Detroit and grapples with the rapidly changing racial politics of the time. Cheadle plays a small-time criminal hired to steal what his gang thinks is a simple document. But when their plan goes horribly wrong, they’re forced to search for who hired them and for what ultimate purpose.
As with most Soderbergh movies, he’s assembled an impressive cast for “No Sudden Move,” including Benicio Del Toro, David Harbour, Jon Hamm, Amy Seimetz, Brendan Fraser, Kieran Culkin,...

Syfy Films will release the science fiction film Hover in Theaters on June 29, 2018 and VOD and Digital HD on July 3, 2018.
Review by Matthew Lowery
There comes a certain expectation when you see “SyFy Films” at the start of a movie. You expect to see a ridiculous movie with bad acting, an almost non-existent plot, and tons of lousy CGI. Essentially, when you think “SyFy”, you think of movies like Sharknado, Mega Shark vs Giant Octopus, or any other silly-looking monster movie. But then comes along a movie like Hover, which is actually a bit of a step-up from what one would expect out of SyFy Films. While its story isn’t necessarily original and some of the CGI sticks out like a sore thumb, it is an admirable film full of good intentions and some interesting ideas.
Set in a near future world similar to our own, the movie follows a young woman named Claudia,...

"Drones - those things are evil." Syfy Films has debuted a new official trailer for an interesting sci-fi film titled Hover, about a drone-filled future where A.I. drones operate as police to manage the few humans left after a deadly, catastrophic drought. Finally, we have the one of the first ever films about evil drones! Well, there's probably been a few others, but now they've made a cheesy Syfy one about bad police drones in a dystopian future. Hover stars Cleopatra Coleman, who also wrote the screenplay, and features Shane Coffey, Craig muMs Grant, Fabianne Therese, Rhoda Griffis, Leo Fitzpatrick, Beth Grant, and Rhonda Johnson Dents. This unfortunately doesn't look that good, surprise surprise from Syfy, but it is still an interesting concept for a film. And they're actually giving it a theatrical release anyway. Take a look. Here's the first official trailer (+ poster) for Matt Osterman's Hover,...

Do you know something? I’m starting to wonder if celebrities aren’t necessarily our best and our brightest. Their superior dental work may create the illusion of preeminence, but take away the pricy veneers and what are you left with? A bunch of protein powder-guzzling berks who couldn’t logic their way through a simple combinatorics puzzle if Cancer Research funding depended on it.

A few belated thoughts on the latest Horace and Pete coming up just as soon as I find your cancer sexually attractive... I was under the weather on Monday, and not up to writing much more about Horace episode 7 than this tweet. Also, frankly, I wanted to sit with the episode a few more days to see if my feelings changed about that closing scene between Horace and Rhonda, which they ultimately didn't. Though it advanced the stories of Sylvia's cancer (in remission, apparently) and the fight for the bar's future (Pete trying to make an end-run by having the place declared a landmark), this episode was more of a short-story collection than some other installments. The different vignettes were linked by many of the series' usual themes about loneliness (and, as we see with Horace's daughter's new relationship, the compromises we sometimes make to avoid loneliness), unexpected attractions (with...
