Slash featuring Myles Kennedy and the Conspirators launched their River Is Rising tour Tuesday night at the Roseland Theatre in Portland, Oregon. The set mixed songs from their new LP 4 along with selections from their previous albums, Slash’s Snakepit catalog, and Slash’s 2010 solo album. There were no Guns N’ Roses covers, but they did tackle the 1991 Lenny Kravitz song “Always on the Run” that Slash co-wrote.

The omnipresent Dwayne Johnson provides a short intro to “Stuntman,” the kind in which a celebrity host (in this case also one of the film’s producers) jovially warns us that the acts we’re about to see were performed by trained professionals, and under no circumstances should we “try any of this at home.” That would seem a no-brainer. Then again, this documentary’s most appreciative viewers will doubtless be little boys and girls (as well as big ones) who can imagine no career more intoxicating than being the person actually executing thrills ’n’ spills that will appear in finished films or TV shows to have been done by stars like the erstwhile Rock.
If, in fact, crashing cars and leaping from explosions for a living doesn’t really sound that tempting, you’ll probably find Kurt Mattila’s slick documentary of lesser interest. His principal subject is Eddie Braun,...

"I will go out finishing what my hero started... Life's funny like that." Disney has launched the trailer for a documentary film called Stuntman, from director Kurt Mattila. This originally premiered at the 2018 Los Angeles Film Festival, where it won the Audience Award, but was never been released until this year. And it might be worth the wait - Stuntman will be streaming on Disney+ this month. The film follows professional stuntman Eddie Braun as he prepares for and attempts the most dangerous stunt in cinematic history – a recreation of Evel Knievel's Snake River rocket jump. With new music from rock icon Slash (featuring Myles Kennedy and the Conspirators) and a score by Jeremy Zuckerman, this Stuntman film "straddles the line between documentary and non-fiction action film, offering a rare look into the entertainment industry's most dangerous and anonymous profession through the eyes of one of its renowned veterans...

Stuntman is a new documentary coming to Disney+ later this month. While you might expect it to be a new project looking at the life of a professional stunt performer working in Hollywood, this feature film is a little more complicated. Eddie Braun has been a stuntman for over 30 years, but one stunt has […]

The video for hardcore country-rock artist Tim Montana’s “Mostly Stoned” couldn’t get more weird. And that’s before a title card flashes on the screen telling you that it was directed by Charlie Sheen.
But Montana revels in the unorthodox. His songs can veer toward old-school country or screamy metal (think Kid Rock at his most genre-obfuscating). “Mostly Stoned” exists somewhere in between, with a dose of introspective singer-songwriter tying it all together as Montana sings about the lover who left him feeling scarred and detached from reality.

Stevie Wonder: Songs in the Key of Life Madison Square Garden November 6, 2014 I wasn't going to miss this one! Fortunately the cheap seats were "only" $49.50 (plus fees, of course), which for a big-ticket concert these days is actually reasonable.
Wonder's 1976 double-lp set is on one hand an oddball choice for such treatment, yet from another perspective is perfectly obvious. Oddball because although it does have hits, the hits/filler percentages are higher on the latter than on any of his classic '70s single LPs, and some of it is downright eccentric. Perfect and obvious because, among musicheads, this set has acquired mythic status and, given its length, handily fills an evening.
The thing is, who says what's definitely filler (undistinguished material that just takes up space) and what's a hidden gem? And there's so much variety, stylistically and in terms of arrangements, that some people think it doesn't flow,...

Maybe next century, stunt fans. Fox has canceled its special “Jump of the Century,” which was set to feature stuntman Eddie Braun and daredevil Big Ed Beckley attempting to recreate Evel Knievel's famous Snake River Canyon jump — hopefully with better results than the original, of course. On Sunday, Sept. 8, 1974, Knievel jumped the Idaho canyon from south rim to north rim, before winds caused his “Skycycle” to drift back into the canyon. He sustained only minor injuries, but perhaps had his life saved by narrowly missing the water. Charlie Sheen had a recent run-in with police in Los Angeles, but this time it had nothing to do with booze and drugs and everything to do with bringing some good to the world.
TMZ reports that in a conversation with a Hermosa Beach police officer, Sheen learned that another cop at the station has been struggling to take care of his daughter, who was recently diagnosed with cancer. The troubled star vowed to help and sent off a $75,000 check to the family’s fund.
"No parent should have to watch their kid go through that,” Sheen told the officer, according to TMZ.
Jasmine Faulk, 10, was diagnosed with Alveoler Rhabdomyosarcoma in September and will have to undergo aggressive medical treatment, including radiation and chemotherapy, according to her family’s blog. While the Faulks remain positive, and Jasmine has big dreams of becoming a nurse one day, she has suffered side effects from the treatments,...

Charlie Sheen has Adonis DNA, tiger blood and apparently a heart of gold. The Anger Management star donated $75,000 on Sunday to help a 10-year-old girl named Jasmine Faulk beat cancer. Charlie's stunt double, Eddie Braun, also cut a $25,000 check to the Hermosa Beach Police Officers Association (Jasmine's dad, Everitt, is an officer), which is fundraising for Jasmine's treatment of a rare form of pediatric cancer called alveolar rhabdomyosarcoma. The former Two and a Half Men star's spokesman, Larry Solters, confirmed to E! News this recent gift "is one of many charitable donations that Charlie frequently makes." Eight noir novels to help fill your endless summer with a sense of overwhelming dread and paranoia.

You've got to give FX credit, they just keep scraping their way out of the box. No matter whether idiot audiences appreciate their efforts, the cable network refuses give up on us and their new ideas. In a time when every other movie is a remake or a sequel or prequel, the majority of television shows are mindless and dull, it takes innovative people to continue the effort to find something new and interesting. And FX certainly recognizes when they've found a winning combination of writers/producers or great actors/headliners, as evidenced by the the renewal of "Justified," return of "Nip/Tuck" team, Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk and now, actor/comedian Eddie Izzard. Izzard's last FX gig was the criminally underwatched and beautifully acted, "The Riches," which I still mourn. But Izzard isn't one to rest on his laurels; he had an idea for a show, got together...

Nostalgia is a look back at a time that never existed, a version of the late 19th century where adventurers cross the world in airships, doing combat with sky pirates and recovering lost treasures. But while the characters are constantly digging through the past, the game designers would be better served by more forward thinking. Instead, they’ve produced a game that’s beautiful and detailed, but unlikely to fully satisfy players. The story follows Eddie Brown, son of the Indiana Jones-inspired Dr. Gilbert Brown. When Gilbert goes missing on one of his adventures, Eddie takes his father’s airship ...
