Orthodox Judaism and the larger, secular world clash as gorgeous gentile cop Melanie Griffith goes undercover (and then under the covers) when she falls in love with a Hasidic Jew (Eric Thal) from Brooklyn while investigating a murder case. Think Witness with rebbes substituted for the Amish. (texto oficial do distribuidor)

If I had to recommend a foreigner to others, I could argue the charms of Melanie Griffith, who was still relevant in the early 90s. The film is suitable for fans of klezmer music and superficial enthusiasts of the world of orthodox Jews. The rest, it must be said, is not essential for the art of film. It starts with the screenplay and ends with the direction of Sidney Lumet, who is otherwise known for several exceptional genre pieces. For me, it's more of a below-average crime film. Overall impression: 40%. ()
