Engels Imilla belongs to the category of television dramas inspired by political events beyond the Czech borders. The protagonist is a member of a leftist guerrilla group in a South American country. Pursued by government soldiers, she seeks asylum at her parents' home. Coming from a wealthy family that supports the dictatorship, she finds herself at a family gathering attended by the political elite and militia leaders. Unfortunately, she is forced to play the role of a luxury prostitute. She attempts to aid her comrades, leading to intense drama. The play is intriguing due to its exotic Latin American setting and the showcased acting performances. Eduard Cupák plays the negative role of a dictatorship representative, with Jana Šulcová in the lead role. The drama aired twice in the second half of the 1980s and, as far as I know, hasn't been aired again since November 1989. It's a pity because it's incomparably better than the stereotypical normalization-era junk presented by commercial television. Overall impression, considering its television nature: 60%. ()
