Dit spectaculaire avontuur volgt een robot—ROZZUM unit 7134, oftewel “Roz” — op haar reis. Na een schipbreuk strandt ze op een onbewoond eiland en moet ze zich zien te redden in de wildernis. Langzaam maar zeker bouwt ze een band op met de dieren op het eiland en ontfermt ze zich zelfs over een weesgansje. De Wilde Robot is een hartverwarmend verhaal over zelfontdekking, waarin op een boeiende manier wordt gekeken naar de brug tussen technologie en natuur en onderzocht wordt wat het betekent om te leven en verbonden te zijn met het leven om je heen. A brilliant premise made into a whirlwind of action combined with funny gags, but also a touching story about parents and children. The Lightbringer saga has a wonderful visual style and a functional world that, at least initially, follows the kill or be killed rules. The animals comment quite eternally and cynically on the deaths of their comrades and take the robot for a monster. The themes of caring for an orphaned caterpillar, surrogate parenting, rewriting code, getting to know the denizens of the forest, the role of outsiders in society all run like clockwork. Maybe the multiple ending could have been handled better, but the positive feelings prevail. First movie with my daughter in the theater and she was thrilled... she just wants to be a robot now.
