If only the film wasn't narrated so mysteriously the whole time as if some big revelation awaited at the end, I would give it an even higher rating. But its uprooting leaves me no other option. The acting is good, but it would be better if it didn't play at something to the audience that isn't actually there. (2015.01.31)

Cake offered Jennifer Anniston an excellent acting opportunity and she utilized it to the fullest. The best performance of her career, which proved that besides comedic roles, she can also pull off a more serious note. A chamber, psychological drama that does not dazzle with action, twists, or tension, but rather delves into the lives of people who have experienced personal tragedy that they may never fully come to terms with. I would still have welcomed a bit more thriller, tension, and some twists, but I respect that the creators kept it at a civil and tranquil level. After a long time, I saw Sam Worthington again, it seems to me as if he disappeared from the surface of the film. (2015.06.01)

I found myself deeply connecting with the main character's emotions, even though our diagnoses may differ; we cripples just understand each other :-) Jennifer Aniston delivered a wonderful performance. Unlike many viewers, I was thoroughly entertained throughout the entire film, as much as I would be watching an action-packed movie. The creators managed to (quite surprisingly for me) avoid melodrama and accurately captured the essence of us cripples – we may lack many things, but our biting sarcasm and, for the luckier ones among us, cynicism, are always intact. / Lesson learned: Don't rely too much on pills; sometimes, a chat with a possum is all you need.
