I tell you that after a series of average and even below-average fairy tales, which I have watched in recent days, and which I hope ended with this year's premiere fairy tale The Magician Žito, this is like from a different planet. Yes, it's damn simple. Yes, it’s a long way from a Christmas fairy tale. But it still has the right atmosphere, which every fairy tale worthy of that name needs, and it’s really nice to watch it. It’s a shame it has such an average rating on this site. ()
Together with the fairy tale How Franta Learnt to Fear, The Bear and the Ghosts is a shadow of the previous Barrandov fairy tales. The runtime is minimal, while the sets entirely recycle other Czech fairytales. It’s too conspicuous and overly unnecessary. ()
