The intervention following the unauthorized entry into the Carros' home leads to a police officer helping Mr. Carro with money and protecting him from freedom while trying to make an unauthorized entry into Mrs. Carro. In the early '90s, a rain suitable for "husband and wife characters" thrillers arrived, and this is one of many fungi that grew from it. You can unfailingly predict what will happen in the next ten seconds, and with a high probability, you can guess what the following scene will be. Yet that predictability is simultaneously wonderfully reassuring. It might throw you off balance that Liotta's character has a third of a cat's lives... By the way, as the end approaches, Ray evidently opted for Kevin Bacon's method: "The more staring, the more the psychopath."
