Als König Charles I der zweimalige Oscar-Preisträger Guinness erkennt, dass seine Macht von einem Bürgerlichen herausgefordert wird, stellt er sich seinem Gegner. “The King is not England, and England is not the King.” Fragments from the clash of parliamentarians and royalists on the home English turf (sports terminology: Roundheads against Cavaliers), during which the creators focused primarily on the heads of the warring factions. Only one will roll, and the other’s controversial ideas (the Irish campaign) and humiliating posthumous rolling will be tactfully ignored when the Stuarts opened a restaurant. In the heavyweight acting duel, I favored the one who exuded confident arrogance mixed with the certain nobility of a Jedi knight. His opponent wasn’t bad at all, but at times he overdid it with fiery speeches for the history textbooks. Either way, it was undoubtedly a diligently executed job regarding costumes and battle chaos. I don’t know about you, but in the final scene of Prince Rupert of the Rhine, I saw Daniel Day-Lewis instead of Dalton.
