Even if I wasn't comparing it to Kubrick's masterpiece, this version of The Shining would still look ridiculous. What does it matter that it is more faithful to King's novel in terms of plot when it is somewhere else in terms of atmosphere? What was thrilling and believable in the book (the animated bushes, the fire hoses...) was awkward here, not to mention the "performances" of the actors, whose stupid TV roles were obviously destined by a cruel fate. Stephen King wrote the script himself this time. Probably just in case. So why not? But... Dammit... What was that awkward graduation epilogue supposed to mean? A big disappointment. ()
