Dear Alice tells the story of four very different lives and how their paths, by a series of circumstances, come to cross. During what seems to be just an ordinary day, these four people are making everyday decisions that at the moment seem to be trivial but lead, ultimately, to a life changing and violently destructive end. I noticed this film doesn't have the best ratings, but I wanted to check it out anyway, mainly because it's from Sweden. At first glance, it didn’t seem particularly exciting, but as I kept watching, I realized the Swedes were trying something similar to what the Americans did with Crash or what the Mexicans did with Babel and 21 Grams. It’s essentially a mix of characters with different life struggles that all come together by the end. Some storylines grabbed me more than others. Honestly, without Danny Glover, I’m not sure I would've stuck it out, but with him, it had a concept that worked pretty well and touched on some important questions Sweden is currently facing, especially around immigration. That’s why I rated it the way I did.
