Und dann gabs keines mehr

Vorweg muss ich sagen, dass dies neben Mord im Orient-Express zweifellos der beste Krimi aus der Feder von Agatha Christie ist, der mich voll und ganz überzeugt hat. Drei Stunden lang hat der Zuschauer die Gelegenheit, ein absolut atemberaubendes Spektakel zu sehen, das vor allem von einer wunderbar ausgewählten Besetzung und einer sehr gut geschriebenen Geschichte profitiert. Eine einsame Insel, ein großes Herrenhaus und zehn Menschen, die in der Vergangenheit Verbrechen begangen haben, für die sie nicht bestraft wurden + ein ziemlich erschreckender Reim sagen den individuellen Tod aller Anwesenden voraus. Mir gefiel die Einbindung von Rückblenden in die Handlung, so dass der Zuschauer die Möglichkeit hatte, im Verlauf der Geschichte mehr über die Figuren und ihre Verbrechen zu erfahren und sich eine Meinung über jede einzelne zu bilden. Darüber hinaus muss ich auch die Kameraführung loben, die sowohl symbolische Details als auch schaurig-schöne Aufnahmen des Anwesens auf der Insel bot, sowie die beeindruckende und unverwechselbare musikalische Untermalung, die die bedrückende Atmosphäre und die Unmöglichkeit der Flucht von der Insel perfekt ergänzte. Kurzum, ein sehr gelungenes Fernsehprojekt, das mehrere meiner Lieblingselemente und -aspekte, die ich bei Filmen und Fernsehsendungen suche, in sich vereint und definitiv ganz nach meinem Geschmack war. Agatha Christie couldn’t have gotten a better adaptation of her famous mystery novel. The people from BBC have obviously shot this with an incredible effort not to offend and of the author’s diehard fans and it was an A+ success. The simple story is complemented by the individual characters’ flashbacks, which should tell us about their previous actions and they have adapted them so well that there can’t really be any talk of filler shots. Now add an amazing atmosphere of one of the islands that tries to pass off as a part of the Hebrides and a solid amount of proper British actors. The results simply can’t be disappointing. Another thoughtful, top-notch affair from the excellent Agatha Christie, who has nothing to be ashamed of in this adaptation. The central theme, which is compelling in its own right and leaves you eagerly awaiting the denouement, is supported by excellent music, a believable cast and a great deal of suspense. After the first warm-up episode, the series is already going full steam ahead until the finale, and there is no shortage of amusing murders, atmospheric paranoia among the characters and a final twist. And then they say only God can judge. The Dover island climate providing alibis for gardeners, BBC-made set design perfectionism, rising paranoia among well-acted culprits, and a horror-like atmosphere, as if Mary Shelley had stepped into Agatha. Knowing who's behind the annihilation of the ten-member undergrown unit, which was once a group of small Native Americans and before that children of darker skin, is no burden. By the way, it's interesting how the change in the rhyme under the influence of political correctness also became a spoiler. "Believe in God...but maybe we should also lock the doors." (06.07.2022)

Disproportionately better originals, because as the original is excellently built and invented, it is horribly written. Which, this adaptation, thanks to Sarah Phelps, completely corrects. If we add to that the captivating English gloomy "Gothic" atmosphere and apt cast, this one is very likely to be the best adaptation of one of the most famous detective novels ever. (05.01.2016)
